"The biggest hardship I have faced in life is living in a pathetic and uncomfortable house. Whenever it rains, I more often suffer from pneumonia, a condition that drains me financially. Moreover, I become weak during rainy seasons thus I become unable to engage in any income generating activities."

"My greatest ambition in life is to see my children get proper education. I want them to have a brighter future through acquiring skills that will assist them in getting job opportunities in the near future. Now receiving this money will mean that I'll be able to clear their current fee arrears and the remaining cash transfer to start poultry farming. The returns from the poultry products will enable me pay for their school fees bit by bit for the remainder of their schooling years."

"The biggest hardship I am facing in life is unreliable source of income. I am unskilled and therefore unable to compete and bargain for better paying job opportunities. I depend majorly on farm casual labor that has meager wages that cannot meet our daily basic needs. This makes us skip major meals, wear old clothes and sometimes suffer from malnutrition related ailments. Being unable to provide for my family's basic needs make me feel unhappy."

"Receiving this money means liberation from stress and worries in my life. I depend on casual labor that is seasonal and tedious. This make it difficult to provide for my family's basic needs like food and clothes. I would like to spend the transfer on starting up a small business that will be of more sustainable income. Hopefully this will improve the living standards of my household."

"My first priority is to use the money to expand my business. I own a boutique where u sell second hand clothes. I will use the money to buy new stoke, this way my clients can have a variety of choices to pick from. My second priority will be focusing on paying rent for both my house and the semi permanent shop where I sell my clothes. I can pay for two months consecutively without worrying much about my landlords. I would also want to use the money to help people. I would be lending them soft loan with a small interest and this way I can also make profit and grow financially myself. "

"I have always desired to open a shop in our village. This is because we do not have access to shops in our area and you have to walk a distance of 2 hours on foot in order to buy flour, cooking oil and other cooking essentials. I find this as a wastage of time. Therefore, being able to get the transfers will mean that I will manage to start my own shop hence earn an income and bring services closer to Kambe villagers. "

"I have a grown up daughter who has been mentally unstable for over ten years now.Getting sufficient medical attention for her has been a huge challenge for my spouse and I.This is because none of us has a stable source of income and what we earn from casual jobs is not even enough to provide the basic needs of each member of my family.I have always wanted to take her to a specialist so that she can receive the desired medication. This is the biggest hardship that I have faced"

"My biggest worry is that I am not certain that I will always have food and other basic needs in my house because currently, I am unemployed and will not be able to get any employment given that I dropped out of form one. I am therefore forced to rely on my husband who earns 300 shillings per day from his motobike taxi employment so that I can get food and other basic needs. "
