Kevin
received a $531 second payment.
"I managed to pay for my driving classes an I can now land a driving job easily. When this happens, I believe my family will live a better life i.e. my children will go to better schools and we will also afford healthier foods. I leased two pieces of land which I plan to use to expand my sugarcane farming. This is another source of income for my family. That is how much GiveDirectly has changed my life!"

Lucas
received a $530 second payment.
"My life is currently different than it was before because I used the transfers to buy some sacks of maize grains and other foodstuffs. Nowadays, we have sufficient food in the house thus we have been able to feed well without fully relying on unreliable casual jobs. Prior to receiving the transfer, life was hard and we could occasionally go to bed hungry."

Gladys
received a $530 second payment.
"The biggest difference in my life is that I have started a poultry farming project and the income I get from the sale of eggs is enough to meet all my family basic needs and I no longer struggle to buy food as I used to do in the past. I have enough milk for my family since I used my first transfer to buy a dairy cow and I no longer buy milk and I can now save the money I could have used to buy milk and use to meet other family basic needs. I also sell the surplus to earn income. I also have a spacious house to accommodate all my family members since we used to squeeze in a small room before I received my transfer. I also leased a piece of land and planted maize and I am optimistic that I will have a good harvest hence enough food supply for my family."

David
received a $531 second payment.
"My life is so different now because when I received the transfer I bought a motorcycle. It is new, efficient and effective. I can now generate more income which I use in paying school fees for my children whom I transferred from a public school to a private school. They are performing way better in school compared to previous days when they were constantly sent home from school to clear school fees balances. My family can now afford a portion of healthy food too."

Joyce
received a $531 second payment.
"My life has changed in many different ways. I now have a new house for the family, I have an additional dairy cow which is producing more milk that is enough to feed the family and selling the surplus to meet other household needs. I have also been able to put more land under cultivation unlike before when I relied entirely on human labour to till and prepare my land. I am looking forward to having more farm produce now and in the coming days. The produce from my farm shall be of great help to us as a family as it means we shall have more food for the family while we sell the surplus to meet other basic household needs. Furthermore, my children are no longer sent home for school fees like they were done before we got the transfers."

Lily
received a $23 twelfth payment.
"Once the farming season is done, I will shift my attention to clearing the loans that I took to plaster my house. This is because I want to clear the loan as fast as possible so that I can have enough time to save the rest of the transfers before it's over for a chance to start my own business that will sustain me later on."

Daisy
received a $23 twelfth payment.
"I expect my life to have a changed in the next six months in that I would have bought a dairy cow. This dairy cow will give at least KES 200 as an income through the sale of milk production. I will achieve this through the savings I have in our table banking and the income I get from my small business selling boiled eggs."

Amina
enrolled.
"My dream is to build my own house. The current one is too small and whenever my sons come home to visit, I am forced to share it with them which is considered taboo in my culture. Secondly, I plan to buy oxen to aid me in ploughing my two and a half acre farm thus ensuring my home is food secure. Thirdly, I will purchase two dairy cows, part of the milk produced will be consumed at home while the surplus will be sold to ensure some flow of income for food and other necessities. "

"My life has improved in that, I have acquired household items like beddings and utensils which were very old prior to receiving these money. Secondly, I have been able to renovate my house and started the Construction of another house for my children. Lastly, I live a happy life because I paid off my land mortgage which stressed me for a very long time. Before I received thses transfers, My house was ugly because it wasn't plastered and the floor was dusty causing caugh amongst us. We also used to sleep on very old beddings and I had very few utensils."

Rose
received a $449 second payment.
"My life is different now in that, I have built a house within a shortest period of time with GiveDirectly's transfers. Secondly, I'm able to feed my family using the money I received from GiveDirectly. Prior to receiving these transfers, I used to sleep in a small house with my children which wasn't enough for us. I was also faced with a challange of famine since there wasn't enough money to buy food."
