How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is so different now because when I received the transfer I bought a motorcycle. It is new, efficient and effective. I can now generate more income which I use in paying school fees for my children whom I transferred from a public school to a private school. They are performing way better in school compared to previous days when they were constantly sent home from school to clear school fees balances. My family can now afford a portion of healthy food too.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has enabled me to live a better life. My family can now afford a healthy diet hence good health. This is possible because I have a constant source of income. I bought a motorcycle and I do not depend on the meagre income I get from doing casual work to provide for my family. I do not feel there is anything that GD does not do well. They just saved my life!
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I have always been dependant on casual work to get money for my family's upkeep. I contemplated taking a loan from a merry-go-round to buy a motorcycle. So, when I received the transfer I used it together with some of my savings to buy a motorcycle. Currently, I have a motorcycle that earns income which helps with the family upkeep i.e paying school fees for my children, buying household items and food for family consumption.
