"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I now own a pair of an oxen that I acquired with the first transfer I received from GiveDirectly. They will help me in ploughing my farm on time since they take fewer days to plough an acre as compared to tilling myself. I believe I will get an increased harvest this time around because I was able to prepare my farm in time. Initially, I would be the last to cultivate my land because I was doing it by myself. I couldn't even afford to hire labor. I am glad I now have an oxen that will not only prepare my land on time but also use it to plough other people's farm which will earn me more income."

"Life is different in that I have been able to pay my children's school fees and this has given me a peace of mind seeing them attending school. Before, children not being at school due lack of money brought a lot of stress in my mind. I am so grateful to GiveDirectly."

"My life has tremendously improved in that I'm an owner of three acres of land. In the past, I used to borrow money from SACCOS in order to rent agricultural land for cultivating my crops. It was always very difficult for me to carryout agriculture since I could only afford land in distant places. This in turn affected the crop productivity since I struggled to weed and harvest my crops on time due to the long distance hence leading to low harvest."

"The biggest hardship that I am faced with is poverty. I have children who actually go to school but there is no money to provide for them. I depend on agriculture for survival. Sometimes I also do casual labour as a way of raising some money in order to provide for the family. "

"My life is currently different from the way it would have been had I not received the transfers. This is because I managed to buy livestock with the money GD gave us. I chose to buy livestock because they are easy to manage and I pray that the livestock will grow and reproduce because it is through them that I will be able to do other projects and goals that I have always wanted to achieve in life. This is because in the future after they have given birth I'll sell the calves in order to raise money for meeting these needs."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I now own a house. I have been longing to construct a big house but due to my financial status, I could not afford to do that. My previous house was in a very poor condition and whenever it rained, we couldn't sleep because of the leaking roof. My children too never had peace because they had to sleep at my neighbor's house which was very uncomfortable. But ever since I constructed this house, the problem is permanently solved. Apart from that, whenever they wanted to study, they found it hard because the house was not spacious enough and this negatively affected their academic performance. Their performance has now improved after I constructed this house because they can now study comfortably without any interference. I am so grateful to this organization because I am not where I used to be."

"The biggest hardship I face is inferiority complex. My spouse has not yet married me and we are not respected in te community. According to our culture, a man is expected to take cows in form of bride price to the girls family as a way of appreciation."

"My life is currently different from the way it would have been had I not received the transfer in that if it wasn't for GD I wouldn't be having a house now. I would still be staying at my mother-in-law's house. I am a casual laborer and it's usually difficult to save money since the little that I get from it is usually spent on the daily needs of that day. I managed to build a house after GiveDirectly came into our lives. I really thank God for allowing them to select me as part of the beneficiaries because I never saw myself owning a house any time soon. It is like a miracle. The house will forever remind me of this organization"
