Janepher
received a $22 fifteenth payment.
"I hope that in the next six months, the business I am currently planning to set up will be up and running. I want it to be so stable that when the time comes for the transfers to stop, I will not feel the pinch as I will have an extra source of income to supplement the casual jobs I currently depend on."

"The greatest difference in my life is that I bought a cow. I was spending a lot of cash buying milk for use at home but when I received the money from GiveDirectly I bought a lactating cow which gives us enough milk for use. My children have not been sent home for school fees since I was able to clear the school fee for the whole year. Again I built a house which I had been yearning to built for a long time. With all this great achievement in my life, I see a great change which was made possible by GiveDirectly."

received a $515 second payment.
"Currently, I am living a better life compared to a few months back before Give directly came to my life. Through their help, I managed to build a spacious permanent house. I also managed to buy a cow that started producing milk recently. The milk supplements our meals. It is also a source of income. I used the remaining amount to pay for my medical expenses. I am grateful to this organization for helping me. I could not have done all these were it not for them"

"Receiving this money means that I will be able to actualize my dream of being a poultry farmer.Poultry farming does very well in our area due to the warm climate.Venturing into the business requires me to first fence my compound with a suitable fence meant for chicken keeping.I have not been able to do this because of insufficient funds.I will also use a part of the transfers to buy around a hundred young chicks to start with. With the proceeds,I know that my family will have a source of income"

"I live in a small house with only one room and my children are growing up very fast. This means that soon I will need a bigger house with more rooms.I am therefore planning to spend my first transfer on building a one bed roomed house made of iron sheet roof. The roof will help me collect water during the rainy season.I will also buy a dairy cow which will provide milk for my children and surplus for sale.I will use the second transfer to start a grocery business. This will save me from the casual labour I often do which is very tasking and tiresome."

"For a long time, maize farming has been the main cash crop and source of livelihood in my community. When maize die due to soil borne diseases and army worm infestation, we are forced to sell livestock and other assets for our children's fees and household necessities especially foodstuff. This is the third consecutive year of lack of good harvest thus we have continued to sell our properties. These desperate attempts have condemned us to the brink of poverty and this the hardship we have always faced. "

"Owning a separate house, buying livestock and supporting my children's education is what receiving this money means to me. Currently, I am living in a single roomed structure with my co wife and our children with some of them spending their nights on the floor. My wish has been to construct a spacious house for myself when I receive my first transfer from GiveDirectly. This will restore the long lost respect from our children, since it is a taboo in our community to sleep with grown up boys in the same room. I also plan to spend the second disbursement on livestock and supporting my children's education. This will change our livelihood, a transformation that I have longed for."

"Crop pests and diseases as well as unpredictable poor climatic conditions has made it hard to get good harvests which is the challenge i currently face since initially, i used to depend on subsistence farming for survival unlike nowdays whereby crop farming has poor returns. This has made it more difficult providing for my family hence its the biggest hardship i have faced."

Sidi
received a $535 initial payment.
"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I now own goats. With the goats, they reproduce twice a year and to add on that they require little supervision compared to other domestic animals. When they reproduce and mature I shall sell some in our local markets and use the money to handle other family needs. Apart from that, I will exchange some for a dairy cow so that I can get milk and sell purposely to double my income. And according to me, these are the well-thoughtful assets that will help me in the near future. Thanks to GiveDirectly for making an impact in my living standard at a time I almost lost hope."
