"Receiving this money means I will be able to buy a plot of land at the centre, cows that will reproduce and provide milk for my family.
I also hope to buy oxen that will support farming.
This will help in taking care of any eventualities that may arise in the future. "

"Receiving this money means I will be able to build an iron roofed house.
Maintaining one which is grass thatched is hard based on the fact that grass is scarce these days. "

"The biggest hardship that I am faced with is taking care of the education needs of my children.
There is no money.
I do majorly agriculture and some small bussines for survival but the income is not enough.
Some of my children have had to stay back home because I have failed to pay school fees.
They are just home."

"My desire is to ensure my children are well educated and in a position to help themselves financially. With this in mind, I plan to spend most of my transfers in paying college fees for my daughter who is specializing in Early Childhood Education and fees for my other daughter in secondary school. With the remaining part, I will set up a shop within my neighborhood because there is none as at now. Having worked in a shop previously for a year, am fully equipped with the skills required to succeed in this business. This will assist me in catering for other needs in the family such as food and water."

Douglas
received a $48 eighth payment.
"Had it not been GiveDirectly coming to us, then I would still be struggling to pay for my rent. I majorly depend on casual jobs that do not have a constant income hence raising house rent on time had been a challenge since we mostly spend the little income I receive on my household daily needs. Ever since I began receiving my monthly transfer, I have never defaulted on my rent giving my family a humble and peaceful place to live in. To me, paying my rent timely has brought the difference so far. Also, this money has greatly helped me in paying for school fees for my children, since this is the only way I will give them a bright future which has always been my great goals."

"Receiving this money means that i will be able to initiate dairy farming in my farm since i grow nappier grass which i usually lease out at a cheaper price since i have no cattle to feed them with. I will therefore buy two dairy cattle to support my income as a casual labourer. The remaining part of my transfer will go to paying school fees for my two children in college and one in secondary school"

"I have been struggling for long in balancing between paying rent and meeting the basic needs like foodstuffs and house expenses because the little money I earn from my daily job was not sufficient to fulfil all these. However, my life is now changed because the little I earn plus the money from GiveDirectly has enabled me to fulfil my needs with ease."

Josfin
received a $22 fifteenth payment.
"As neighbours who are Give Directly recipients, we have agreed to form a merry-go-round group from next month so that we can have decent amounts to fulfil our plans. With this set to start soon, I hope that in the next six months, I will have managed to plaster my house which is currently of mud so that I can be free from the constant renovations done through smearing."
