"Had it not been this financial support from GiveDirectly, then it would have been difficult for me to support my child and sister on their school fees, which would have also been hard for them to continue with their studies without interruptions concerning school fees. Through the money, I cleared their fee arrears and now they are comfortable in school. The transfer has also been enabling me to pay my rent on time as well as catering for my household needs."

"Receiving this money means I will be able to buy a piece of land that I can cultivate. The space that is available for me to use is too small to accommodate my plans. I am hopping that this money will be a chance for me to get enough land and support my family. "

"Receiving this money means I will be in position to cement the floor of my house. I use to work in southern sudan with a certain company but when the civil war intensified, I come back empty handed and could not complete this house. Thereafter I started gambling with life with no basic source of income generatiing activity sleeping in adusty house. Once I put cement on the floor , the dust and insects will no longer distrub my household members hence they will be sleeping in desent accomadation."

"The small hut my family and I live in is too old, too small and leaks in water during rainy seasons. Receiving this money will therefore enable me to build a new three roomed iron roofed house meaning my life will greatly change. I will then use the remaining part of the transfer to add a dairy cow to the one i have since i rely on selling milk to earn some income to support needs of my family each day"

"My plan is to oxen and ox-plough with this transfers. Iam so much relying on farming as main source of income but I get very little from it due to limited of labour. The oxen will help me maximise on cultivation and planting since they are going to be my added labour force. This can lead increase in production hence less poverty in future at my home ."

"The biggest hardship I face is lack oxen and ox-plough for ploughing. Iam always planting in the middle of each season and on small scale yet I have enoug land to carry on cultivation. This has affected crop output every year since I produce what does not take care of the family needs. Iam failling therefore to fulfill my responsibility as the mother of the children."
