"In the next six months, I believe my life will have changed. I will have cemented all the rooms in my house. The cleaning process will have been made easier. Apart from that, my house will last longer. I am also optimistic that I will have started saving part of my transfer towards the purchase of a water tank."

"In the next six months, my life is will be different from how it is now. I will have started poultry keeping project. One-acre fund organization has an upcoming project of dairy farming in my location. I am optimistic that I will have taken one dairy cow from them so that I will be paying for it every month. This will increase my daily income from dairy farming which will allow me to invest more."

"My biggest hardship is insufficient finances to provide my family's basic needs of food and education. It's been six years since my husband moved to Mombasa but he never comes home nor does he support us in any way. I survive on burning charcoal a trade that is now faced with many legal challenges thus affecting my income greatly. "

"Our biggest challenge is food insecurity. We are a big family of a husband and 10 wives each with not less than 5 children. None of us has a stable income on which we can depend on so we mostly rely on farming to feed ourselves. Unfortunately, for the past one year, we have been experiencing very low rainfall hindering our crops from maturing. We have to go deep into our pockets to buy food from shops that can satisfy more than 70 people. "

"I am planning to buy two cows in the next six months. This will ensure that I will always have a cow that produces milk since they will be reproducing in turns. This means I will always have a source of income throughout the year. I am planning to use some of the milk for family consumption and sell the surplus. This will also help me in meeting my goals and needs such as paying school fees for my children."

"In the next six months, my life will have changed in that I will have built a house for my family. My wife will be using our current house as a kitchen. Apart from the privacy we will be getting, my status in our community will be elevated since we will not be sleeping with our children in the same room."

"Imagine having to feed and educate your family of 6 from a casual labourer's monthly income of less than $36 each month! 2 years back things were a bit better because i had no child schooling in a high school like today and i also had a cow that used to supplement the household needs through milk sales. This cow unfortunately was sold for school fees last year when my firstborn joined high school. What a relief with Givedirectly coming as i will be able to restore this income by buying another high yielding cow!"

"My first priority when I receive this money is building a kitchen which will cost me approximately 30,000 Kenya shillings. The current one is grass thatched and leaks during the rainy season. After I complete that I will build a poultry house so that I can expand poultry farming. This will cost me around 40,000 Kenya shillings.I will use the rest of the money in catering for basic needs especially clothes for my children."

"My expectation in the next six months is to establish my homestead. Currently, I stay at my parents in law compound. This set up is usually controversial since we are different households with different values and beliefs. This usually leads to conflicts and quarrels among ourselves. I know that when I move to a different compound and establish my home I will be able to enjoy the peace and freedom which I have yearned for a long time."

"Being a motorbike rider, the income i earn daily from my work ain't sufficient enough to satisfy the needs of my family. I struggle to ensure my children get some food at the end of the day and some other basic needs including education. For a long time now, my wish has been to set up a savings account that would enable me to start a profitable project in future but i haven't been able to realise this dream which makes this the biggest hardship i face."
