"I majorly depend on subsistence farming which has not been doing well enough to cater for both household daily needs and any other goal in the family. I have children in various schools and my biggest ambition is to see them prosper in their education to allow them to have a better life in the future. Raising their school fees is challenging for me due to the limited resources in our family. Currently keeping livestock with an aim that once they reproduce, I will have milk for both household consumption and sales gives me a the biggest difference in my daily life. I will have offsprings which to me I can always depend on in case of any financial crisis more so to raise my children's education fee and any other household necessity arising. To me having these livestock in my compound is the biggest difference in my daily life. It gives me hope that I can always provide for my family."

"I now have the two heifers, pair of oxen and also some goats which I am currently keeping in my homestead. With the pair of oxen, then I am assured of doing my farming timely unlike before when I would hire and also was using the hoes which were not productive on a bigger acreage. The heifers and the goats will reproduce and I am expecting to educate my children to realize their education goals through them. I was also facing a problem of providing for my family since I lacked money. The little earning from the casual job couldn't fully cater for this. However, ever since I received this transfer, we have never stayed without food in my household."

"The greatest achievement that I will forever remember is having a decent house to live in that GiveDirectly helped me to build. Had it not been their support, I would still be living in my old, small and grass-thatched hut. I now have access to a good shelter unlike before. I am also happy that I now have my own pair of oxen that will help me to make my farming productive for better harvest. In addition to this, I also replaced my bedding with a new mattress and a new wooden bed. I would not have achieved these if at all I was to pay at my own cost. I am grateful to GiveDirectly for changing my life."

"I now have a new decent and iron roofed house to live with my family. It would have taken me many years to build a bigger and spacious house considering my lowly financial status. The previous house was in a very bad condition, it was leaking during rains. I am not worried anymore when it rains because I have a good house to live in. Apart from this, I also have a pair of oxen that will help me in doing my farming productively."

"My main source of income was charcoal burning which I stopped immediately I was diagnosed with an illness that rendered me weak, I could not continue with this work any more. Having a family to take care of, I didn't have any other source of income to depend on. It was a challenge even to provide for my children. When GiveDirectly gave us the transfer, I managed to buy a second hand motorcycle. I am thankful because the motorcycle has now become my source income. I also have the goats and sheep that I am keeping which will help me even for the future of my children's education. I know they will reproduce and in the process have many of them. I will sell to raise money for my children's education."

"My life is different from how it would have been had I not received the transfer because I am now a proud owner of a dairy cow. Currently, I have my own milk that I sometimes sell to my neighbors in order to get money to use in buying some of our basic needs. Also, I have experienced the joy of owning an asset that you can lean on in case of financial challenges in the future."

"My life is different from how it would have been had I not received the transfer because I now live comfortably in my spacious and decent house. Also, I have an asset that I can rely on in case of a financial challenge. The cow I bought using part of the transfer has calved and I now earn income through milk sales. I always use this income to cater for our daily needs as I save some."
