"The biggest hardship I have ever experienced is the inability to pay school fees for my children. This is so because I used to rely on farming as a source of livelihood. But due to unfavorable climatic conditions in our area that did not support farming, I had to relinquish farming and start looking for casual jobs. Being new to this field, I normally get 400 shillings per day and this is hardly enough to sustain my family's needs including school fees. This would mean we had to sometimes forego meals in a day to cut down on food expenses."

"Being a substance farmer, growing maize on a small-scale for food and sometimes to sell them to earn some income for my other needs like shelter. At the moment, my strength is decreasing due to my old age. My dream has been to purchase oxen and ox-plow that will assist me in the preparation of my farm. Receiving this money means fulfillment of my wish as planning to spend $ 400 on purchasing 2 oxen. I will use the remaining amount to purchase a bed and bedding."
