"Financial instability is the biggest hardship that I have ever faced. This is because am a housewife and my husband is a casual laborer. He earns a little amount of $20 per week. I have 4 kids and all are in school. We use this amount to buy food for the family and pay for school fees for my children. The other basic needs of the family remain pending due financial crisis."

"Lack of a reliable source of income is my biggest hardship I have faced in life. I work as a casual labourer who earns me 200 shillings and it is not guaranteed. This has made me fail to sustain all my basic needs such as food and shelter."

"Receiving this money means starting a business (supplying and selling water) to residents. This has been my ambition for 5 years now but due to financial difficulties, this has not come to pass. I plan to spend 45,000 shillings to purchase 2 donkeys and a cart that can carry roughly 20 jerricans in 1 trip. The donkeys will help me pull it so that I distribute water in people's compounds because our area does not have sources of water e.g dams. People walk almost 10 kilometers or hire expensive motorbike. A jerrican goes for at least 40 shillings which will be a good source of income to my family of 5 members. Also, the remaining amount will go to building a house."

"My husband operate a taxi belonging to my neighbour. In a day he makes 1000 shillings as profit but he has to pay back the owner ending up with nothing. Sometimes he comes back without anything making it hard for us to meet our basic needs such as food. Therefore, lack of a reliable source of income is my biggest hardship."

"In my opinion I do not see anything that needs to be improved by GiveDirectly. I just feel that they are doing a bigger job than other Organizations and they all so many NGOs but Givedirectly stands out, they should not change and just continue doing the good job that they are doing."

"I spent the transfers to pay for my child's transport fee to South Africa, my son had gotten a work opportunity that side so I gave him 200,000 from the first transfers. I then bought 15 glasses for the Windows in my house, A Matress and I used some of the money for some food. Then bought 14bags of cement for the flooring in my house and also spent money on transportation for all those materials to be sent to me and of course I also had to pay some men for construction... Lastly I bought fertilizer so I could do some farming."
