Shikari
received a $24 twenty-sixth payment.
"My aim for the upcoming year is to ensure that my children can pursue their studies without any hindrances. As someone who didn't have the opportunity for formal education myself, I strongly believe in its importance for a brighter future. I plan to use the upcoming transfers to cover their school fees, as I believe education opens doors to better opportunities. Providing my children with an education will equip them with the skills they need to secure good jobs in the future, enabling them to support themselves. I am immensely grateful to the organization for their assistance, which allows me to provide this invaluable gift to my children"

Baraka
received a $24 eighteenth payment.
"In the upcoming months, my primary focus is to make substantial investments in acquiring livestock, with a particular emphasis on goats known for their rapid reproduction, thereby facilitating a swift multiplication of my investment. The proceeds from the sale of these goats will significantly contribute to financing my education and meeting other future requirements. I am deeply grateful for the financial assistance provided by Give Directly, as it has played a pivotal role in furthering my education. Without this support, I would have been unable to pursue my studies and would have remained confined at home instead of attending school."

Mohammed
received a $24 eighteenth payment.
"As a student responsible for covering my own school fees through transfers, my immediate focus is on settling my current year's fee arrears, which stand at a manageable $40. Once this financial obligation is met, my next objective is to embark on saving towards the construction of my own house.
To facilitate this goal, I plan to allocate $20 of my transfers towards purchasing iron sheets, an essential material for the construction process. The remaining portion of the transfers will be allocated to address recurrent needs such as food and other necessities.
The desire for a place to call my own is motivated by the current discomfort of residing at my uncle's house. Owning a house will not only provide me with a sense of independence and privacy but also offer a comfortable and secure living environment.
By prioritizing the clearance of my fee arrears and diligently saving towards homeownership, I aim to realize my aspiration of owning a house and achieving greater stability and autonomy in my living arrangements."

Penina
received a $24 eighteenth payment.
"My main focus is securing a better home for my family. Our current house is almost collapsing. I've had to resort to purchasing poles just to prop it up temporarily. My plan is to join a merry-go-round group and contribute the cash transfers from GiveDirectly towards purchasing building materials. With the rainy season looming, there's a sense of urgency to provide a safer home for my family. I'm determined that I will achieve this through the support of the cash transfers."

Charo
received a $24 eighteenth payment.
"With the help of the cash transfers I've been receiving from Givedirectly, I'm looking forward to achieving several goals in the coming year. I'm excited that soon, I will be owning a motorbike. This will not only enable me to run my own business but also help me to comfortably pay off the motorbike loan. Additionally, I plan to use the funds to build my family a permanent house, as our current one cannot withstand the harsh rainy weather. Furthermore, I will acquire more livestock and venture into dairy farming for an additional income generation. Givedirectly has given me hope in life."

Alhaji

"With the support of Givedirectly transfers and my earnings, I'm diligently saving towards a goal for the coming year. My aim is to own a motorbike, which I see as the key to creating a sustainable source of income. Moreover, I plan to start a family, by finding a wife with whom I can build a stable home. Despite my aspirations, I remain committed to supporting my siblings until they're able to stand on their own feet. I'm forever grateful for the monthly transfers from GiveDirectly."

Hellen
received a $311 second payment.
"Receiving my second transfer, my mind couldn't focus on anything but fulfilling my desire to own a dairy cow. We already have two Boran breed cows at home, but their milk production is low. From both cows combined, we only get a total of 3 liters per day during the calving stage, which isn't much. We mainly use it for consumption within our household. I desired to have a cow with high milk production so that I could sell the surplus and earn extra income. I purchased a dairy cow for $500, contributing $50 of my own money alongside the $450 I received from GiveDirectly. This cow has promising milk potential; currently, I'm getting 2 liters of milk a day, and it's almost drying up, indicating that during calving, I will likely get even more milk. I plan to sell this milk to support my husband in providing for our family's needs. This way, we won't have to solely rely on his income. We have six children ( two girls and four boys). I am a farmer, while my husband is a primary school teacher. On our three-acre farm, I cultivate maize and vegetables. However, Sometimes, production is lower than expected, and it can be costly, especially with the expenses of using a generator for irrigation. In addition, there are times when the river dries up, resulting in poor harvests. Having the dairy cow will provide us with a diverse income source. If one source fails, we will have another to fall back on. Thank you GiveDirectly for enabling me to fulfil my desire."

Shabani
received a $24 eighteenth payment.
"I currently have six goats. I want to invest more in goats and, once they multiply, I plan to sell them and buy dairy cows. This will create an opportunity for me to sell milk and generate income, especially since I am currently unemployed due to fracturing my hand in a motorcycle accident. I am determined to save enough to improve my children's lives and secure their future."

Khadija
received a $24 eighteenth payment.
"I am currently staying home, looking after my children since I don't have a job. We live in a small metal sheet house, and with all five of us here, it is starting to feel really uncomfortable, but I am determined to change that. I am saving up from my involvement in a merry-go-round, and I am excited to start building a bigger house for my family."
