"Now that my kiosk, which I had always dreamed of owning, is up and running, my plan is to continue using a portion of the transfers I will receive from GiveDirectly to expand it into a larger store that will offer a wide variety of goods. This expansion is essential for me to create a more sustainable income source for my family.
Some time ago, I purchased a solar system on credit for $37, which requires monthly payments. Currently, I have a debt balance of $16, and I plan to use a portion of my transfers to clear this debt as soon as possible. Once I have finished paying off the solar system, I intend to expand my poultry business by increasing the number of chickens I have and building a larger structure for them. This will not only improve their living conditions but also enhance my capacity to produce more poultry, contributing to my family's financial stability. Through these efforts, I am hopeful that I will be able to create a thriving business that supports my family and provides for our needs in the long term."

"I always had the desire to start a kiosk business, but the only thing that was holding me back was finances. With GiveDirectly in my life, I can happily say that my kiosk is now up and running, and I am very happy for this achievement. My plan moving forward is to continue using a portion of my transfers from GiveDirectly to expand my business by boosting its capital. My goal is for this business to grow into a large store, which will become my main source of income that I can rely on, especially when this program comes to an end. In addition to growing my business, I also intend to allocate a portion of my future transfers to continue educating my children. I recognize the importance of investing in their education as I work towards a more sustainable source of income for our future. Lastly, I am hoping to use another portion of my transfers to purchase more chickens. My hope is that they will multiply and increase in number, allowing me to sell some and use the proceeds to buy goats. I am optimistic that these goats too will multiply and increase in number and value, and I plan to trade some of them for cows that I will use to plow my farm. This will relieve us from the tiring process of using our hands to till the land."

"I previously had plans to start a shop business selling household items, and I am happy to say that the business is now up and running. For this achievement, I give great thanks to the support in terms of transfers that I received from GiveDirectly. For this year and beyond, my goal is to expand the shop into a larger store where I will be selling a wide variety of items, increasing my profits. To achieve this, I plan to use a portion of my transfers to increase my stock and meet the needs of my customers more effectively. Additionally, livestock farming has always been my aspiration. I want to allocate another portion of my future transfers to buy more goats and add to the ones I already have. I hope that these goats will multiply, increasing in number and value, so that I can sell them in the future and support my family whenever I am in need. I am truly grateful to GiveDirectly for providing me with this opportunity to improve my life and the lives of my family members. With their support, I am working toward a brighter future."

"With my five grandchildren in school who entirely depend on me, my plan is to continue using a portion of my transfers to take care of their education. This will ensure that their education does not stop. Additionally, I do not have a conducive house where my family can live. We currently reside in a makeshift structure that is not safe enough for us to sleep in. My plan is to continue using my future transfers to gradually buy building materials so that I can build a two-room house where my grandchildren and I can live comfortably. Lastly, I also plan to save a portion of my future transfers to buy goats and add to the four goats that I already have. I am hopeful that these goats will multiply and increase in number so that, in the future, I may be able to sell them and support my family as well as my grandchildren's education, especially when this program comes to an end."

"With the financial support I am getting from GiveDirectly, my hope for this year and beyond is to purchase a second plowing ox. I only have one right now, and I need a pair to plow my fields efficiently. I will gradually save my way toward this objective as I acquire funds bit by bit. This second ox is a necessity rather than a luxury. My livelihood is based primarily on farming, which I cannot do without. My fields will be plowed more quickly with two oxen, increasing my crops and guaranteeing my family's safety and well-being. Beyond that, I'll have more opportunities thanks to the second ox. I intend to provide other farms with plowing services, which will produce additional income and help my family. I am very grateful for this opportunity and hopeful that my plans will come true and I will be able to have something that I will be proud of from GiveDirectly, especially when this program comes to an end."

"I have always dreamt of owning cows to help plow my farm and potentially renting them out to others with their farming needs, which will also earn me some money and cater for some of my needs. Recently, I made an effort using my previous transfers and started a business. My plan now is to save a portion of my future transfers and some of the profits from my business in a savings group so that once the money matures, I hope to use these savings to buy cows and a disc plow and then train the cows to plow the fields. Once I achieve this, I will be very happy, as I know that I will not be using my money to hire some cows to plow my farm, as I will be having mine and hence saving that money for other uses. Thereafter, I intend to redirect a portion of my future transfers to reinforce my house and make it stronger. To do this, I plan to save my future transfers and profits from my business to purchase building materials that will help reinforce my home and increase its durability. I am hopeful that these plans will come to fruition."

"I am currently job hunting after completing high school in 2018, but despite my efforts, I haven't found a good job yet. With a grade of C plain, I plan to join nursing school to improve my employment prospects, though I haven’t been able to enroll earlier due to school fees. I have twelve goats and believe investing in them is a smart move because they can multiply quickly, allowing me to sell them to cover my school fees. I am confident that joining college will open up job opportunities for me. Once I complete my studies, I plan to start my own shop where I can sell a variety of goods to my neighbors."

"I currently sell petrol to my villagers and have established two branches: one in Mtulu and the other in Awali. My goal is to expand these branches to boost profits. I started this business because finding a good job was difficult, so I created my own employment. Initially, I had no competitors, but now there are about three, making expansion crucial for sustaining and growing my business. Expanding will also enable me to create jobs for others who are currently unemployed. Once I clear my debt with the merry-go-round, I plan to take another loan to further expand my business."

"As a mother of two, my greatest joy is seeing my children receive a good education and improve their lives. To ensure they attend a good school, I am currently enrolled in college. I joined a tailoring program with the belief that, once completed, I can start my own tailoring business and earn a better income. Thanks to GiveDirectly, I can cover my school fees with the support from my transfers. Once I complete, I will start my business and I am confident that this will help me provide my family with the life they deserve and eventually build our dream home."

"Currently, I am at home taking care of my livestock, as I don’t have any other business. I want to start a vegetable and small fish selling business, targeting my local villagers. They will pay me for the produce, providing a steady income. I plan to save enough from my transfers to fund this venture. I need $50 to start the business, which I believe will significantly improve our lives and benefit my children’s future."
