"Currently my challenge is lack of food. My family's staple food is nsima and from my previous harvest I only had 2 bags of maize which were depleted in 2 months time from there harvest in April this year. Ever since I have had to rely on casual labour to find food for myself and my 7 kids here and I tell you it hasn't been easy to find those pieceworks either. At present I only have a half full bucket of maize flour and I don't know where else to go after that is done."

"We are living in poverty because of no stable source of income. My husband goes to casual work but that isn't enough because he makes little money when the need is more than he makes. We have no Food, clothes, utensils and even fail to get medical assistance because of money for transport and medicine."

"Being this old, we fail to go out to work as well as we could when we were younger and end up staying hungry. This is because we don't yield anything from what we farm. We live off hand to mouth basis handouts pressure on us. We lack money and can't afford our basic needs hence living in poverty."

"The challenge is food. It's rainy season and were beginning to plant which is the time when we run out of food. To find money for food, my husband goes out to do business for us to eat. Be it selling goats or other commodities. I don't work or do business so that leave the whole responsibility on him. With the economy, business is slow and that leaves us starving."

"The biggest difference in my life is in the investments that I made with the money. Paying school fees, purchasing of livestock, and buying food in bulk has made me so much happy and stress free. I normally rely entirely on casual jobs to provide for my family and this money brought a lot of relief to me. My wife cannot do strenuous casual jobs because of her medical condition and this has meant that I attend to all the needs of our children and family single handedly. Getting this money has given me time to stay at home and work on my own farm contrary to before where I could not get enough time to do such. I have always been on the run to make ends meet for my family which often ends up stressing me a lot. I could not even get time to attend to my own farm but now I can. I am so grateful to GiveDirectly for this beautiful change in my life."

"No NGO has ever come in this town to give out money which is $150, 000 Liberian Dollars. I believe this will seriously impact the town positively. For me, I wish that GiveDirectly will continue to provide assistance to people not only in this town but other communities."

"I have bought building materials to start building my house, because the house I am living in is owned by the family. This becomes embarrassing most times because there is no freedom."
