Cellestine
received a $433 second payment.
"Our construction of a two bedroom house that we started after receiving the first transfer was not yet complete. Receiving this transfer was a boost on the construction work as we spent $300 on obtaining paints, several bags of cement, and settling the labor charges. We had been hoping to see the construction complete which we actually did later on. I also spent $200 to buy two mattresses and two beds for my three children and myself. With the remaining $30, I purchased household goods that included foodstuff and other kitchenware that was still missing. I am grateful to GiveDirectly for the great support that has boosted our construction work and also enabled us to add some food to our baskets."

Joseph
received a $433 second payment.
"GiveDirectly did an excellent job in our village, raising many poor families' living standards after they spent the transfers on their preferences. It was a fantastic job when we received a direct cash transfer that came directly into our accounts, making it easier for us to access and withdraw from the nearby mobile money shops. Everything was done so well that no one complained since the spending decisions were bestowed upon us, and they also did everything in accordance with our expectations right from the first meeting."

Saidi
received a $433 second payment.
"Giving us unrestricted cash transfers, in my opinion, was a terrific idea because it allowed people to address a variety of requirements. I have noticed a significant improvement in our village as a result of the unconditional cash transfer. While some people purchased cows, others made investments in businesses. The village is now better and more tranquil. On the other hand, everyone seems to be applauding the organization, therefore I have not heard of any concerns about it."

Hinzano
received a $433 second payment.
"GiveDirectly's work and the support we received were so helpful in numerous ways that most families are currently living a better life. Many constructed new houses and others cleared their children's school fees after receiving the money. They did everything well, and I wish the program would be back to the village after completing the other they are yet to finish. I saw nothing wrong with the entire process and am thankful I was part of the beneficiaries."

Gladys
received a $433 second payment.
"With my family of three children, our beddings were worn out and so I bought some new pairs for $200. When I received my first transfer, I had started building my house but I had not finished, so I used $200 of the second transfer to complete it. I spent the last bit of the transfer buying household foodstuff, an extra piece of furniture, and kitchenwares that were missing in our home. I am grateful for the support from GiveDirectly and hope to keep improving the few projects we started."

Zawadi
received a $433 second payment.
"It was a great blessing having GiveDirectly visit and support our village right from the first to the last transfer. In my opinion, this initiative gave a new face to every household and more so the whole village. we were given a chance to listen to and decide whether to receive and spend the transfer independently without any push but ensuring that they change our lives or not. The fact that the support was only limited to the two transfers made every household spend wisely following the teachings we had received during enrollment stages. I can't see anything to complain about but to just encourage GiveDirectly to keep supporting other villages as well."

Rehema
received a second payment.
"In the event that I pass on, I want to leave my kids behind living happily and so I intend to buy a piece of land and build a good house for them to stay in. I am hoping to relocate to a less expensive area where I can buy half an acre and practice subsistence farming to support my children."
