"The biggest difference in my daily life since I started receiving these transfers is the dairy cow that I bought. I now have enough milk from the dairy cow that I bought and with this I even get money to save from the small business that I run. My family is generally happier than we were before receiving the first transfer and we are so grateful for this. Our living standards have significantly improved as well."

"I felt so happy the moment I received money from GiveDirectly. It had never really sank in my mind that I could receive that amount of money from GiveDirectly. I was actually travelling that day when one of my neighbours called and told me that she had received her transfer. After disconnecting, I checked my Mpesa balance and found out that I had been sent the money too. I went home very happy and shared the good news with my family. I felt very happy that I was finally going to be able to start a poultry keeping business- a project that had stayed in my mind for quite sometime."

"I have gained some unexplained sense of peace within me ever since I received the transfer from GiveDirectly. It has always been my dream to have piped water in my compound and to also have my own house. All these are almost becoming a reality courtesy of GiveDirectly transfers. This to me is the greatest difference in my daily life and I am so grateful to GiveDirectly for making it a reality."

"The biggest difference in my daily life ever since we started receiving these transfers is the peace of mind among my family members. This is largely attributed to the loans that I was able to clear and knowing that no one will bother us hence forth. Looking at how our chemist business has improved is also so satisfying. At least we are able to make more money from the chemist business making our living standards better as a family and we are also looking forward to even making it bigger."

"I will always be appreciative of the help that significantly raised my standard of living. Without asking for anything in return, GiveDirectly has significantly affected my life. I have not observed anything that is not done properly because the company is well organized in how they carry out their task. It made it possible for me to pay school fees for my children who were on the verge of dropping out of school as well as enabling me to put some food on the table. This made my family happy because hunger had been bothering us for so long."

"Having to sell charcoal at Bamba Market leaves me with very little in the way of savings. As a result, purchasing a cow was not something I anticipated doing in the near future. I am the proud owner of one as I write this, thanks to GiveDirectly funds! Along with this, I constructed a two-bedroom house with a front and back verandah. I pay $0.7 on a motorbike to transport my charcoal to Bamba Market, and while I sell a sack for $3.5, sales are few and far between, and profits are rarely high. As a result, even my child's PP2 school fees of $1 per month at Kalongoni Primary were sometimes intimidating. I paid a few months in advance.and used some of the remainder to buy food since farming our 1.5-acre farm proved difficult due to the drought. We would not have been able to achieve everything we have as a family without GiveDirectly."

"My dream has always been to own my own business. I'd love to have a lovely grocery store in my neighborhood. a reliable vendor to whom the community would turn for good service and high-quality produce. I believe this will become a reality one day, and with it, our household's financial situation will improve."

"While our bills aren't particularly large in comparison to others, I can assure you that they add up. Some are consistent, such as the $2 my husband spends on transport each day when he leaves the house at 8 a.m. and returns at 9.30 p.m., or the $55 ($25, $15 $15, for the Grade 6 and two Grade 2 students, respectively) that we pay to Migumomiri Primary in tuition per term. As a result, GiveDirectly funds were directed toward school-related matters, ensuring that we were in the black for a few more terms ahead of schedule. My eldest recently completed Class 8 and plans to attend Jones Kaloleni Secondary School, the tuition for which we as parents have yet to pay. Our token reader was faulty, but the funds came in just in time.I purchased one bed for the children, while I was at it, got my husband and I a mattress . After stocking up on food in the house, we focused on growing my husband's grocery business with what was left of the funds. GiveDirectly being the salvation they are to not only myself, but also countless other recipients is a testament to just how impactful they are as a pillar on our societies."

"Pentanguo Primary School can be counted as a beneficiary of GiveDirectly's generosity. I am a parent of eight children, six of whom are students at the school. They're in Class 8, Class 6, and two in Class 4, and each require $7 per term in tuition, whereas the 5th and 6th born, both of whom are in Grade 2, and require $9 per year in tuition. We made sure to use the funds to cover these amounts as well as the needs of the twins that make up baby numbers 7 and 8. Building a 2-bedroom house and a verandah was yet another way in which we allocated the transfers received from GiveDirectly. Aside from one of us tending to the three acres of land on which we grow cassava, maize, and other cereals, we both do casual jobs, with him earning $5 per day and myself earning $4, and what we harvest, we consume. GiveDirectly has completely changed the trajectory we were on as a family, and for the better. We have never been happier."
