Mercy
received a $424 second payment.
"GiveDirectly did an excellent job of reducing poverty from many households. The choices we made were worthwhile because we now have larger and better houses and have completed the majority of our school obligations. I am thankful for the support and we hope that it will be replicated in other villages. The approach was straightforward, and all deserving households received the funds. House-to-house enrollment was the most effective way to reach everyone without relying on village leadership."

Bahati
received a $424 second payment.
"I spent $150 to support the education of my firstborn daughter Faith who is form 4 and was joining board secondary school. I used the recent transfer for shopping and paying part of the board fees. In addition, I spent part of the transfer to pay tithe at our church. Also, I used a large part of the transfer to construct a shade for our livestock which was living together with our neighbour's animals which resulted in constant diseases. Furthermore, I used $50 to pay a debt at our nearest food store where we were taking foodstuff on credit. Lastly, I bought enough food with the remaining amount for the family of 7 members."

Sharon
received a $424 second payment.
"GiveDirectly provided us with immense help that was equitable to all recipients. Everyone received the transfer and was free to plan without intrusion from the office or the community leadership. I am grateful that I was able to use our support to build a new house, improve livestock farming, pay school fees, and buy food for my family of six. All information shared was clear from beginning to end, and I wish that all villages received the same level of support."

Lina
received a $424 second payment.
"We appreciate GiveDirectly's excellent work, which was equitable to all residents of the village. The training during the initial meeting was informative and assisted us in understanding what was expected of us prior to enrollment. After listening to the teaching in the initial meetings and reading the fly cards that we received, we were able to plan ahead and make informed decisions. We appreciated every step of the process and hope to be able to receive more in the future."

Lilian
received a $424 second payment.
"After receiving the second transfer, I built a new kitchen to replace an old one that had been in use for three to five years. I spent $150 on construction materials and labor charges to complete the entire construction. I also paid $30 in school fees for my daughter, who was in form three at the time, and I am grateful that she had enough time to study and pass her form four exams. I also paid the primary school tuition for my other four children. Furthermore, I spent the remaining funds on food for my family of six, which we consumed for a month before replenishing."

Dama
received a $424 second payment.
"My goal for the coming year is to initiate a retail shop that will help us improve our finances. To achieve this goal, I intend to save at least some money from my charcoal business, though it will take some time. I will be eternally grateful for the financial assistance that helped me when I needed it the most."

Alice
received a $424 second payment.
"What GiveDirectly did well as educate the community on the enrolment process which was fair and transparent. When they arrived at my house, the field officer was polite and humble, which was not what I expected. Everything the organization did, in my opinion, was remarkable, so I did not encounter any inefficiencies."

Safari
received a $438 second payment.
"The organization provided us with unconditional support without discrimination. They explained the program to us and gave us time to ask questions, which were answered thoroughly. I did not identify the areas that needed to be corrected or the things that were not done with integrity."

Sara
received a $424 second payment.
"In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well in coming to our village and enrolling every eligible household into the program. The decision to send direct cash to poor people instead of material aid was a great one. I recommend if possible they return to our village and support us again with cash targeting starting small businesses."

Josphat
received a $28 sixth payment.
"I have aspired to pursue academic excellence. This goal seemed too hard to achieve before I was enrolled in GiveDirectly's program owing to the poor financial state of my parents. Now that I am sure of my monthly transfers, I shall always strive to use my transfers to pay my school fees. Therefore, my primary goal is to spend my transfers supporting my studies. I am optimistic that with a success in my academics, I shall be able to realize my full potential."
