"I am a motorcycle taxi rider, and also run a mobile vegetable selling business. I bought the motorcycle through a loan. Currently, I need to service $700. The remaining amount. This means I need to pay $5 daily, including weekends. This has made my life very hard, and especially now as the rains begin. It will be a enormous task paying the daily remittance."

"GiveDirectly is excellent in everything. You now have a direct channel to the locals. You regularly visit the ground to inform us of your plans and noble intentions, allaying any worries and apprehensions we might have about you. You provided us with non-refundable funds, which enabled us to complete a number of improvements in this village. Thanks to GiveDirectly, I never would have imagined that I would own a business and that my kids would be in school by this time of the year. Continue aiding people; there is nothing to adjust, you are just perfect."

"I already had a budget in place for the second transfer before I even got it. When I got it I spent $300 on a dairy cow. I purchased the cow intending to produce milk for both personal use and for sale. Since a liter of milk costs $0.5, I would be able to support my family by selling milk because I anticipate getting an estimate of forty liters per day. Also, I spent $50 on wire mesh to build a house for my chickens so they could stay inside and away from wild animals while I will be away. I spent $50 buying food for my family because it was a dry season. I then saved the final $10 to remodel my house."

"I want to focus on cattle farming this year despite the needs of my family. I have four goats right now, and I want to get more. My ability to meet demands, such as paying my children's school expenses, will be made possible by this investment. Goats can withstand extreme climatic conditions, so that is why I chose this strategy. In addition to withstanding drought, they are also cheap to maintain and have easy access to markets, which makes them easily convertible to money worth."

"I want to grow my finances as a person and this for me means having an investment. I plan to buy more animals for myself. Animals are such a good investment as they grow and in turn, reproduce, and the bigger the number the more the opportunity for the flocks to increase. I also want to start a business. I want to open a general shop outlet which will be my main source of income. I have not done any research on how much I may need to achieve this but I hope that the transfers I get this year and the animals can provide sufficient capital for the business."

"My goal for this year is to buy a lot of goats all at once. I will be receiving my merry-go-round amount in August, I plan to use the entire amount in buying goats. I plan to buy so many goats, allowing them to reproduce, and then sell them and get some money to expand my house. Due to GD transfers, I now have a one-room house and as much as it is sufficient for now, I know once my children grow older it will not. I plan to spend the earnings on expanding the house to a bigger house which could be fairly bigger so I can live with my kids as they get older"

"My aim for the year is to build a safety net for my family through the savings I am making with my savings group. I joined the group after GD transfers and most months I try to save as much as I can from my transfers to ensure that I will have something for a rainy day. I am also trying to add more animals to my flock so that they also grow giving us a chance as a family to decide to sell the animals where there is a need."

"I want to build a house for myself this year. I have a one-room house with a thatched roof with plastic. I want to get an iron-roof house using these transfers. As I had mentioned I am using some of my transfers to buy materials for the building to have most of it by end of this year and complete construction. I work as a herder and make about $9 which on its own cannot ensure the house is completed. My thatched roof is old and is leaking and this is making me try to rush the building process. I hope by the end of this year I will have a habitable house,"

"My goal this year is to build a new house. I have a house but my house is made of mud and is small for my big family. I have a family of 5 living in a small two-roomed house. we do the cooking here because my kitchen fell sometime last year. I want to have a stone-walled house with an iron roof like my peers and also have a bigger three-roomed house to accommodate my still-growing family. I know this project will cost about $1000 but I have already bought some materials and I hope as my animals increase in number they will be enough to sell and handle the construction."
