"I spent my third transfer on buying a cow for ploughing given that I am a farmer. I also built a house where my children could sleep from. They used to sleep from my father's house which was not good. I thank GiveDirectly for the money."

"I spent my third transfer on paying school fees for my son in secondary school. I am happy I was able to pay the whole year's school fees. I used to pay the fees in bits, but this time I paid for the whole year at once in lump sum. The remaining I spent on buying corn for my family consumes. I am still feeding on the corn update. I pray that GiveDirectly helps the other needy people like me."

"I saved 10000 KES of my third transfer for use in case of emergency. My spouse is a photographer but he didn't have his own camera so I bought him a camera that he uses for commercial purposes, I also opened a business so that I can have a stable income unlike before that I didn't have a reliable income. I'm happy we now have a stable income and our lives has improved."

"I used my a larger portion of my third transfer to buy both a cow and a bull because I believe in future after the cow has given birth I can sell one of the calves to help me raise school fee for my children while the bull will help in ploughing in the future. I also bought a few households that I lacked in my house."

Eunice
received a $467 third payment.
"I spent a portion of my third transfer on an ox which was to be added to the one that we already purchased using the previous transfers and used in ploughing our farms. Besides that, we renovated our house which was temporarily constructed due to shortage of funds. We therefore purchased steel windows and doors to replace the wooden ones that we had before. We also plastered the whole house which was previously made of cow dung and prone to damages by rain waters."

Beatrice
received a $467 third payment.
"I spent my third transfer to lease some land that I have since grown rice. With these rice I believe my children will be able to go to school with the sales I will get from it. Most part of the money I spent on paying school for my daughter who had just joined secondary school. Were it not for the transfers, my daughter could have joined a local day school. I am glad with this money she managed to join a boarding school. The remaining I spent on food for my family consumes."
