"I spent my third transfer for a start -up Tree-Nursery Project for 100,000 KES (I had saved the entire second transfer with the intention of putting the moneys together for this very purpose). I bought seeds from different tree species (Gravellia 2 kg, Kaladadi 2kg, kayapo 2kg, whistling pine 1kg) and planted. To date I have 10,000 beautiful tree seedlings. I also sunk a Borehole as a source of water to support the Project fully since normally this area is rather dry.I have a corner at Bondo town where I sell the seedlings daily ,with weekly sales average of about 500 pieces. Life has changed for the better since these days my family gets food daily, unlike before when we could sleep in an empty stomach some of the time due to lack of income sources for both myself and my husband. I had started this project before but just had a few seedlings at home that whoever wanted would come to buy from there, but otherwise I mainly did odd jobs for people at a small fee. My husband’s occupation on the other hand is walking around to look for damaged plastic articles which he repairs at a small fee . I have so far saved 30,000 KES from the Project and hope to break even very soon. This is a marketable business in this part since the place is very dry and tree seedlings sell fairly well, especially in rainy seasons. I thank you very much."
