Lucy
received a $530 second payment.
"GiveDirectly transfers have become a starting point towards a beautiful financially stable life. I would still be wallowing in debt as I would still be taking milk and other daily food supplies on credit. When the transfers came, I bought a cow that provides the otherwise very expensive milk and reduced my daily expenditure a lot. The money instead goes to meeting other daily needs more easily than beforer I recived the transfers. I am very happy that GiveDirectly came to my village."

"When my wife was still alive,I would go out to look for casual jobs to do in order to earn an income without having to worry about who will take care of the children. After she died,I have to look for jobs to do in order to buy food as well as ensure that they are well taken care of.Sometimes am worried that I may not be able to provide for them since I also need to spare time to ensure that they are well looked after.I therefore spend less time working and hence I earn hardly enough to feed them. This is the biggest hardship I have faced"

"In the next six months, I expect to have bought new chairs in my house such that I will be free to welcome my guests especially my small Christian group without feeling ashamed that they will have no chairs to sit on. We will also be able to enjoy our meals from the same table as a family since there will be enough chairs for us to sit on."

Wilkister
received a $23 twelfth payment.
"In the next six months, I want to boost the cereal busuiness which I will start with part of the transfers in the next four months. I would want to invest in the business so that we don't go back to where we were before the transfers. I would want to keep up the pace set by Gd transfers. I would not want to beg anymore."

Lidia
received a $23 twelfth payment.
"I expect to make a lot of savings within the net months so that my kid who is in his final year in primary school will easily transition to his secondary education come next year. I have to start making the savings as early as now because for me I do not have a source of income that I can say that I will be able to rely on in the future in case GD stops the monthly cash transfers. Within a period of six months from today, I am sure I will have saved enough money that will see him off as he starts his secondary school education."

"I expect my life to change significantly in the next six months. This is because I will be having my own dairy cow. Subsequently, I will be saving more funds which could otherwise be used to buy milk. Moreover, my family shall have enough milk for consuption. I will top up the savings with the transfers from GiveDirectly to be used in leasing more land to facilitate my farming activities. Still, I will be spending most of my time working on my farm. Hence, I will no longer be handling the casual work that I have been doing."

Anna
received a $23 twelfth payment.
"I have a plan to stop my small scale business where I have to go and fetch for goods from a distant market and come back to re-sell the second hand clothes within my locality. Due to my age, I think I have been straining so much and it makes me get exhausted excessively. I think Its time for me to retire from such a business and most probably become a full-time shopkeeper and earn some little cash without straining excessively like I do right now. I just pray that God will give me the energy to go through this period successfully and make the transformation a reality."

Wesily
received a $23 twelfth payment.
"I expect my life to change drastically in the next six months. This is because some of my tea will have matured. Accordingly, I will be getting some additional income after selling them. Moreover, I will be some of my long term vision including poultry keeping will materialize. Still, I will be saving lots of money which could otherwise have been used to buy food for consumption. I will have harvested the maize and beans that I planted last December. Subsequently, I will be selling some surplus to fetch income which will be used to pay school fees for my children. Besides, I will be hiring some individuals to work on my farm, something that has never happened to me."
