Robert
received a $22 nineteenth payment.
"In the next six months, my life will be different from how it is now. This is because I will have finished building my house and I will no longer be looking for shelter at other peoples houses. In addition to this, I will have opened a shop in our nearest shopping centers which I will be running. This shop will be my source of income."

Annah
received a $534 initial payment.
"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have bought a dairy cow which I did not have before and I used to buy milk from my neighbors and it was costly for me. I do casual jobs in the village and the amount of money I got was so small and it could not gather for all the basic household needs. Currently, I have enough milk for my family and I sell the surplus to pay school fees for my children and to meet other basic needs of my family."

Helena
received a $534 initial payment.
"The moment I received the money I felt so happy because I have never received such amount before. It was very early in the morning and I was still in bed when I got the message. I did not bother to check the content of the message then until 7:00 am. I was preparing breakfast when I checked my phone only to find that I had received some amount of money. I could not believe what my eyes saw since I have never received such amount of money before in my life. I was so happy because I knew I would build a better house for the family among other plans that had always remained wishful in my life."

"Lack of adequate resources has been the biggest hardship in my life. For the past seven years, it has been a real struggle, I didn't even have a place to call home, and at some point, I had to go back to my parents due to poverty that was so overwhelming. It took the help of the relatives for us to have a roof over our heads. In last year but one, I left my children behind and went to Mombasa to seek employment opportunities. This again came with a lot of challenges; for a mother to be away from her children it can be very devastating and that is what I underwent. Now that we are going to receive aid from Give Directly, it is indeed an exciting moment in our lives. I will no longer have to worry about where my next meal will come from or where the children will sleep."

"The biggest hardship I have faced in my life is raising up my two children as a single mother.I have no one to support me in meeting their basic needs or even companionship;someone who can encourage me in times of difficulty.I depend on casual labour to make ends meet, which earns me very little."

"The biggest hardship I have faced is raising school fees for my children single handedly.Being a single mother, all the burden of raising a family falls on me alone. My children are all in school,I do not have any source of income nor a skill that could be utilized to earn money. At the end of each day the family must eat and be clothed as well.It has always been a struggle and so many times I have resorted to borrowing from relatives and well wishers.Next year,my son will be in college and this means that the struggle to get money will even be harder"

"My greatest desire in life has always been to have a spacious house for my family. Currently, we are living in a very tiny and leaking house that cannot comfortably accommodate all of us. I, therefore, intend to use part of my transfers in putting up one. This will earn me respect and dignity unlike at the moment where everyone is looking down upon me. I will also put more focus on my children's education. At the moment, I have a child who failed to secure an admission in secondary school due to lack of school fees. Again, I have others who are in primary school and this transfers will come in handy in meeting their educational needs. For the second transfers, I intend to use it in improving my small business to a level of a kiosk. At the moment, I sell silver cyprinid (commonly known as omena) and other household commodities. This will earn me a daily income that can easily meet the needs of the family and that is what receiving this money means to me."

"Being a single mother of five, it has been an uphill task fulfilling the needs of my family. The business i engage in is selling groceries in the market, and the profit i get daily has never been sufficient enough to cater for all the needs of my family since i struggle to get money for buying food and paying school fees for my three children, two in secondary school and one yet to join college. Financial instability is therefore the biggest hardship i face."
