"The biggest hardship that I am faced with is lack of money to take care of my household needs. My husband died but he left me with a lot of responsibility which as widow is a charllage. I don't have enough land that I can cultivate so I hire each time I have to farm. This is very expensive for me. It involves selling harvested food so as to raise money for hire which has always led to food shortage in my household. "

"Had it not been this financial support from GiveDirectly, then it would have been difficult for me to support my child and sister on their school fees, which would have also been hard for them to continue with their studies without interruptions concerning school fees. Through the money, I cleared their fee arrears and now they are comfortable in school. The transfer has also been enabling me to pay my rent on time as well as catering for my household needs."

"The biggest hardship that I am faced with is lack of oxen. I don't have oxen that would support in cultivation and yet I have some land that would really support me. I hire each time I want to plant but this is expensive for me. I do casual labour in order to raise money for hire. However, it is a very inconviniencing thing to do. I have never had the chance to plant in time since the owners can't release their oxen until they are done with their work."

"Receiving this money means I will be able to buy a piece of land that I can cultivate. The space that is available for me to use is too small to accommodate my plans. I am hopping that this money will be a chance for me to get enough land and support my family. "

"I have always wished to venture into poultry farming in order to boost and support the income i get from selling 1.5 litres of milk daily, money that ain't enough to support all the needs of my family but my wish has been futile since i can't afford to get any capital to do so. I have three children studying in primary school and paying their schoolfees has been an uphill task due to financial constraints. What i strugle to offer my children daily is breakfast and evening meal, which is the biggest hardship i face in my life "

"The biggest hardship I face is poverty. I purly rely on crop production and this is so much unreliable due to the unpredictable rain partners and pests hence some time I work for a loss. My family members lack household items and feed without proper diet. This has caused malnutrition amongst the family members."
