"The biggest hardship I have faced in my life is being diagnonised with a chronic illness fours years ago. I was deeply in pain and had little resources that couldn't fast-track my treatment. I took long before I could get well and I had spent much of my resources by the time I was told am well."

"Financial constraints has been the biggest hardship I have faced in life. Raising a family of 4 single handedly is tough and meeting their needs particularly education expenses is more challenging. I have two children in secondary level and one in Primary level and getting School fees of Ksh 80,000 a year has caused both mental and physical turmoil. Even though I have 0.5 acres of land under cultivation where I grow maize, I harvest approximately 4 bags which is hardly enough to cater for them. My future plan is to start a small business in order to supplement from what I get from the land and give my children the best education. This will also bring a feeling of fulfillment as a parent."

"Last year, my house was razed down and was reduced to ashes. Due to lack of finance, I was forced to reuse the burnt iron sheet which were leaking because I had no otherwise. During rainy seasons my family is forced to seek shelter at my neighbor's house. The situation is even worst now that we are experiencing rains in the middle of the night. Shifting my family at such times is cumbersome because it entails disturbing my little children who are asleep. This situation is really stressing me as a parent because I feel I should do more to restore the dignity of my family. Receiving this money will mean alot to me because it will enable me to build a better for my family."
