"For a long time my biggest desire has been to provide a good shelter for my family. However, this dream has never come true because it requires enough finances to facilitate the project. This has therefore reduced us to living in a single roomed house that serves as the kitchen too. To make it worse, the structure is a delicacy to termites because of its grass thatched roof. This causes it to leak during rainy seasons thus eroding the mud walls. Receiving this money therefore means, building a better house for us."

"The biggest hardship I have faced in life is a lack of water for domestic use. Since we experience prolong period of drought throughout the year, our nearby water pan sustains us for like a month and dries up during the rainy season. Owing to this, we are forced to go fetch water in a far place which is approximately 2 kilometers away which is both tiresome and time-consuming. Therefore, buying a water tank from the transfer from Give Directly will be a milestone in my life."

"Receiving this money will enable me to renovate my house whose current state is deplorable. The iron sheets are too old and leaks in water during rainy seasons hence an hazard to my health. I will also spend $150 of my transfer to plaster my house hence the living in a dust-full mud house will soon be a past tense. I also intend to buy 5 sheep which will be my store of wealth to be sold whenever need arises. Sheep multiplies faster and their market is readily available, which means that I will no longer have debts with anyone hence peace of mind."

"I lost my job as a cleaner when corona hit the country last year March. I relocated back home and started doing casual labour jobs such as construction within the village. It has been my dream to be self employed in the poultry sector. When I receive the transfer I will use it to start poultry farming and livestock farming by buying at least 10 goats and some chickens. Having my own source of income gives me job security and I can earn more income through it."

"GiveDirectly gave us the freedom to choose what to spend on. This was very unique about this program as each one of us has got different needs. For me, I didn't notice anything that wasn't done well this project."

"I am single mother and a victim of Mau Forest evictees. For the last two years I have been living on a piece of land where on of my relative had offered us to put up for sometime. After I received my first transfers, I acquired a small portion of land and since the money wasn't enough to build a house I had to wait for the second transfers. Upon receiving my second transfers, I spent 30000 on building a two room house and a kitchen on my piece of land. I am glad that I have a place where to call home. The remaining portion, I spent KES 15000 on buying a heifer for rearing and the rest KES 10000 on buying food and clothes for my children."

"In my opinion, Give Directly does well by giving money to individual and let them decide on how to spend it. This has enabled people to achieve a lot. I was able to meet most of my needs that I could not purchase without the Give Directly transfers. On the other hand, I have not seen any areas where Give Directly needs to improve on."

"I am very happy to be enrolled in this program of Give Directly. We started building a house sometime back but we could not continue due to lack of funds. This money we are about to receive has now given us hope to finish the house, buy beddings, mattress, clothes and food for the whole family. We shall also make sure we invest the other money to be generating income for the future."
