"My life is different than how it would have bee been because I now own four dairy cows. For all those years have been admiring those of my friends and wish to have my own but I could not afford them because they were too expensive. I settled for the dairy cows because according to my understanding they have numerous benefits and can transform someone's life within the shortest time. This was clearly seen from those neighbors who owned cows they never lacked anything in their lives. However, after receiving my transfers, I did even think twice, I purchased the goats and one has an already calve. I am now getting plenty of liter of milk whereby I have decided to sell some in the neighboring dairy shops ad the remaining liters for my family use. A liter goes for KES 50 therefore in a day I make good returns hence supporting my family's needs has been easy. Also, I have been able to pay school fees in advance which was a dream back in the days."

"I spent part of my first transfer in buying some iron sheets, nails, timber, and building poles. This was for the construction of a brand new house because the initial was in a critical condition and very small. I also spent KES 11000 as the labor for the whole house. Also, I bought livestock more so goats that I am currently keeping in my compound. I opted for goats because they reproduce twice a year and this a promise that they will multiply very soon. I later on a solar panel to replace the candles that I have been using which were relatively expensive. In addition, I bought two plastic chairs at KES 1000, at least now I no longer borrow from neighbors. I also bought a wooden bed and mattress and at least I am sleeping comfortably. With the remaining cash, I bought sufficient food for the family"

"I spent part of my second transfer on buying some building materials such as iron sheets, building poles, threads, timber, and a wooden door. This was for the completion of the construction of a new permanent house. This is because the previous one was a temporary small hut and with weak walls and holes all over. I also paid the mason KES 6000 as his labor fee. With the remaining amount of money, I bought enough foodstuff for my family that could take us to the next harvesting season."

"I spend part of the money I received from GiveDirectly on extending my house, I build an extension rooms for my children. They house that we used to live was so small and could not host all the family comfortably. My children are fast growing up and soon they will need their own privacy. I depend on small scale farming and casual jobs at the construction sites. I had always wished to build another house but I was not in a position to buy the building material.Currently I have spacious rooms for my children and for visitors. I no longer get stress up on where to host visitors. I am so happy because GiveDirectly has enabled us to own assets which could have taken quite some time. I have now devoted much of my time on poultry keeping and dairy farming."

"My life is different than how it would have been because, through the transfers, I managed to achieve most of my longtime dreams. First, I was able to construct a decent permanent house which had bales been my dream. The previous one was in a very poor state and I was certain in few days to come it would even collapse. In every rainy season, we used to seek shelter in every corner of the village, and sometimes we couldn't succeed hence ending up being rained on. My children could always be exposed to cold especially a night hence affecting them healthwise. I am glad this is all gone courtesy of GiveDirectly. Secondly, the fact that I managed to clear school fees for my children makes me so ambitious as a parent. Because they have been on and off in school due to the huge school fee balances. I am extremely excited they are now studying without any disturbances"
