"I have been so much happier since I received the transfers from GD. I am able to better my life. I was really poor, unable to afford most basics. I am now in a better position to afford to live a better life. I did not have a nice place to sleep but I bought a mattress where I now sleep. I have built a house and now can proudly say it is almost finished. I was also unable to afford other small everyday things like food, school fees and clothes. I can now afford all these and my children look better."

"So far as I have been helped by Give Directly, I have not had any bad experiences. None of my neighbours have had bad experiences either. All we have are praises. This organization has really helped change our lives. Alot of us now have better houses because of the transfers from GD. We now have businesses we could not afford to have on our own before. We have been able to solve alot of our problems through the use of the transfers. Some people had no food before. I was one of them. I can now afford to buy food and do not worry about hunger anymore."

"My life is now better than it would have been if I had never received the transfer because as a house wife, I feel appreciated and valued by my husband and my friends. Before I used to financially depend on my husband since I did not have any source of income. This has not been so good to me because it is always an awkward moment to request for money for everything as this sometimes resulted to marital conflicts. When I received the money, I bowed to make a deference in my life. I decided to use the money to venture into dairy farming business. I spent almost all the transfer on this. The dairy cows give me 5-7 litres of milk every morning which I sell at our local market. giving me approximately KES 2000 per day. This has given me hope and also increased joy and happiness in my family."

"Ever since I got married, I have always wished that I would buy a cow and improve my farming inputs to boost my farming produce but overwhelming household needs have never given me a chance before. I rely on farming which hardly meets my daily household needs. To me, scarce resources in my family has been the biggest hardship I have faced in my life."

"Lack of enough resources has been my biggest hardship in life. I live a hand-to-mouth life depending on subsistence farming in my family. I was not able to educate my children enough to earn good jobs that we can rely on due to this same problem of scarce resources."
