"The biggest hardship we have faced in our family lack of stable source of income. We having been depending mainly on subsistence farming but we started experiencing prolonged drought life became difficult. Sometimes we could harvest none from our farm, it force us to starting doing casual jobs at least raise some money to buy food. It was not enough to sustain my family of six for food and school fees thus sometimes we could forgo some meals in a day."

"Payment of school fees has been a great challenge ,I retired early to do farming but as you can see crops do not do so well due to diseases and weather. Since then I have sold most of our livestock and also fundraised a lot from the community to pay my kid's school fees."

"I have always wanted to cement the floor of my houses and also buy a big storage tank. I am now getting old and I can't bend a lot to sweep and clean the floor more often. Therefore with these grants, I shall be able to renovate the floors of my house for sh 20000 and buy a 2300 litre storage tank worth sh 17000.At the moment I and my husband are getting old and we are unable to run around with our livestock therefore we need to buy 6 rolls of barbed wire to fence the compound . This will ensure the safety of the crops and livestock as well."

"The biggest hardship is financial constraints. I'm a farmer and for the last few years amount of rainfall in the area has been very low hence no production from the farm. The little I havest goes for food and I don't get surplus to sell hence doesn't allow me to save or cater for other family needs like better housing and clothing's."

"Receiving this money means good shelter for my family. I have 3 children and the bigger child is 10 years old, I sleep with them under small room and there is no privacy at all. When I receive this money, my plan is to spend ksh 50,000 on building a 3 bedroom house that will accommodate my family and relatives when they visit my house. By doing that I will have my privacy and my children will have theirs as well. The remaining amount will go for school fees for the children and foodstuffs."
