"I spent KES 15000 to purchase a sewing machine for my tailoring business. The machine that I was using was faulty hence I had a lot of difficulties in attending to my customers. I also used KES 2000 to boost the kiosk business I operate jointly with the tailoring job. In addition, I used 20,000 to purchase 2 lorries of building stones which I am planning to use in repairing my house by making it more permanent. Furthermore, I supported the education of my 2 children who are in primary school. I save the remaining amount to assist in purchasing building Sandy for the construction of my house."

"I spent KES18,000 of my transfer to improve the condition of my house by putting up a new roof. I bought 19 iron sheets, timber and paying the labour charges for the construction of the new roof. Previously, my house was leaking, I was spending sleepless nights due to the poor condition of my house since the rain was falling directly on us. I also purchased a modern bed and mattress for KES 10,300. I was using the traditional bed and sacks as beddings that were not comfortable to sleep on. In addition, I bought a small water storage tank for KES 2000 to store enough water for family consumption. I am planning to use the remaining amount to start goats rearing a reliable source of income for my family."

""I will open a provision shop and build a new house for my family when I receive the transfer. My children are too many and the house we are living in currently is too small ,because of that my children and I sleep together in the same room while my other son sleeps in the kitchen and my husband sleeps in the small room. I sell cigarettes in the town presently ,but the profit is not much to pay my children tuitions and buy food"."

"If I am successful to receive the transfer ( money), I will invest it into business. I do this because business has been my plan long time to do but the funds to do that was not there. Now that GD is coming to give me money when I am successful, I will invest that into business. I will buy bags of rice, tin of oil and other table markets goods and sale same here by retail. I decided to invest into food stuffs market because those are fast buying items here. Although I can earn money from the coal I can produce, but I used that money to pay my children school fees and also used some to provide food for the family. So by receiving this transfer, it will be a golden opportunity for me to do business that I have anticipated long time ago."

"I am finding it hard to get money to cater to my daughter and myself. Right after the Ebola, my spouse at the time, wasted acid on me that made me disfigured and since that time, I have not gotten a spouse to help me to make farm so as to feed my daughter and myself. My mother who used to help me also die right after the incident."

"Seeing the modern, spacious house that we currently live in gives me a great deal of joy. It's a stark contrast to the old, single-room mud house that we used to live in. It could barely accommodate our family of three. We had made efforts to build another but were stuck due to a lack of funds. My husband earns just KES 500 a day from casual labour. Most of this amount is spent on basic needs such as food. It was only after receiving this transfer that we were able to complete the construction of the house. We now have a dignified place to call home. It feels so good because my life is finally moving forward. Thanks, GD!"
