"I was home with my daughter-in-law when I received a message notification that confirmed the receipt of my first transfer. I was so excited and thankful as well to know that the start of my projects was soon coming to pass. Since I had all the plans in the book, I had not much hurry withdrawing but had to wait to the appropriate date that I had set to start my work."

"Even though I had been living just with my grandchild in my household for over two years now, life has never been that easier still since my age could not facilitate the required agility to do all that a parent could do to provide for the family. On receiving this transfer, I invested heavily in livestock after buying two heifers each at KES16000. I had been having a lactating dairy cow but had been providing just enough milk for the household in most cases but needed more breeds that would produce extra liters for sale. The two heifers I bought are good breeds - potentially prolific producers of milk - that can help me in the future. I also spent KES 4500 in farm operations and KES2000 on buying certified seeds and other farm inputs that I just planted on my piece of land. I also obtained more foodstuff as we had already exhausted the maize we had in the store. I spent KEs2700 on buying an extra sack of dry maize grains and used the remaining on buying clothing both for my grandchild and mine and also other household goods. I am grateful to GiveDirectly for this great support and I have great hope to do a lot when I receive the second transfer."

"If I am successful to receive the cash transfer, I will use it to brush my cocoa farm and also send my son to school. I have a cocoa farm here and to brush in it is not a small work . And now I have no means of rasing money to hire people to brush it. So if I am successful to receive the transfer, that will be a huge step for me. I will also use some to send my son to school as mentioned earlier. He is in Monrovia with the mother parents and I have not always have enough to help him. So if I receive the cash, I will help with his school fees."

"The major challenge for me here is how to raise money to implement my farm project and also provide food for my family. Like I said earlier, when I had operator for my saw I used to raise money to handle the challenges listed above. But since his deaths, raising money has become a serious challenge for me."

"I left Monrovia in January 20201 to come to River Cess County to do some minding activities because I couldn't afford to send my children to school because of lack of employment. The main reason behind my migration to Rivercess county was when my son who was in 12th grade dropped out of school because my wife and I were unable to generate funds to pay his school fees. Currently, my children are in school because of empathy from the school administration. If I receive any money from Give Directly, I will use part of it to establish a business and the rest will go towards my children school."
