"I finished my primary school education back in 2016 and my desire was to go to college but my dreams were shut by poverty since my parents were not in a position to take me to school. I opted to get married and now with two kids but thirsty to get livelihood skills still called. When I was enrolled in the program, I saw a light at the end of the tunnel, my dreams looked achievable now, I knew my future will look brighter than it looked then. When I received my first transfer, I enrolled myself in a tailoring collage. I used my second transfer to buy sewing machine and I'm looking forward to open my tailoring shop once I am done with school."

"When my wife died, I focused all my energy to raise our two sons and it wasn't an easy journey at all. I was a casual labourer and the little that I got averaging from Ksh 200 to 300 would be spend on on paying school fees for our kids and basic needs. Then, I had strong semi permanent house but overtime, it weakened and all you could see was a structure with no door and holes everywhere. I am now old and unproductive and my oldest son is just a casual labourer with family to provide for so I couldn't help it but to just sleep in that house and on the floor. I wished to age gracefully but life had taken a different turn for me, I was living in poverty and aquish and I had lost hope in life. Being enrolled into the program felt like a miracle to me. I used the most recent transfers to finish up building my house which I had started building with part of my first transfer and bought a bed and mattress. Nowadays, I sleep comfortably in my house and I'm nolonger in fear of being attacked by wild animals at night. I'm so grateful to GiveDirectly for the amazing support."

"Receiving this money means an improved livelihood for my family. I plan to spend KES 35,000 to purchase one dairy cow that will help me feed my family. Currently, we do not have one of our own, the one we have belongs to a relative which it can be taken away anytime by the owner. We purchase milk for most of the year, costing us KES 1400 per month. Having this cow means I will cease purchasing milk as well as selling the milk to earn an income. For the rest of the amount, I plan to construct a bigger house for my family."
