"GiveDirectly did well when they decided to run the program independently without being influenced by the government officials. If it was so, not all people would have benefited from the program. I would like to urge them to continue with the good work since I do not see anything wrong with their work."

"With the current economy, it is hard to find an organization that gives people money for free. My village has developed in different ways and this has led to a change in our living standards. Thanksgiving is what is on the lips of every one of us since ever since GiveDirectly decided to visit our village, we've never seen or heard anything that we are not pleased with."

"I am a casual laborer working on people's farms while I sometimes work on my farm. Currently, I do not have any new or additional goals since I want to concentrate on my children's education. I believe that the best investment one can think of is education since it will be beneficial to me and my children in the future."

"Upon receiving my second transfer, I spent KES 28000 to complete building a shop that I had started using my first transfer. It was my wish to start a shop business in my neighboring shopping centers and I am glad that GiveDirectly enabled me to build a room that I will use for business very soon when I will have acquired the stock. Also, I spent KES 8000 to pay school fees for my children who had been sent back home, and used the remaining amount on food and clothes for the family."

"I have a daughter who is in her final year at the secondary school level and an orphan who was left under my care though he is still at the primary level. I have a small business of selling groceries in the neighborhood and I usually spend all the profits on food. Because of this, they were constantly in and out of school and this had started affecting their performance. I settled on paying school fees for my daughter using KES 10000 upon receiving my transfer so that she would be able to concentrate on her studies. In addition, I spent KES 20000 to purchase a heifer since I have never owned one ever since I got married. When it calves, I will not only save the money that I usually spend on milk but I will earn income through the sale of surplus. From the remaining KES 22000, I spent KES 15000 building a bedroom for my daughter who has been sleeping in the kitchen and used the remaining amount on food. I will forever remain grateful to GiveDirectly for enabling me to achieve all these."

"One of my children will be sitting for her final year examinations in secondary school in the next coming month. It is my wish to see her through college and achieve her dreams of being successful in life. With this, I do not have any additional goals since I know that paying school fees for two children in secondary school and one in college will be an uphill task for me."

"GiveDirectly officers were not biased during the enrollment process and they also enrolled people without seeking opinions from the local authorities. In addition, the fact that they followed up on people to know how the transfer was spent made many people become disciplined and spent the transfer well. Considering this, I do not see anything that they did not do well."

"I have been doing any available casual work around the neighborhood at times while also practicing subsistence farming. Due to my age, it is my wish to start a business of buying and selling maize in our neighboring markets or even a grocery business. With this, I will not be engaging in tedious activities that are tiresome while still being able to provide for my family."

"GiveDirectly did well in that they taught us well through the entry meeting that they held with the community members. The people got to understand in-depth the program. They also promised to send the transfers and they indeed honored their promise. I do not see anything that they need to improve since they are doing a good job."
