"After the death of my only dairy cow last year November, feeding my family has been a struggle. This is because I could only afford to buy a liter a day at KES 45 which was only sufficient for breakfast alone. Recently, when GiveDirectly transfers arrived I saw this as an opportune time to buy a dairy cow. Therefore, I spent KES 38,000 on the purchase of a dairy cow. This is now a major source of milk for my family and I am grateful. Secondly, KES 10,000 was used on clearance of school fees arrears for my daughters in high school. This is because as a mother of 7, I have been relying on small-scale agribusiness farming to pay school fees for my kids. I normally specialize in farming and sale of onions, pumpkins, sweet potatoes, and sukuma wiki. This has helped me for a long time because my three elder kids have already cleared school and are now independent. Lastly, I spent KES 4,000 on the latest clothing fashion for my kids. This is because my kids didn't have decent clothes for special occasions."

"Before receiving the transfer, my spouse and I agreed that we would spend both of them on a retail shop to improve our household income. Initially, we sold fuel on a small scale and offered Mpesa services alongside it. With a family of 8, it was not easy to meet most of our household needs with the income from it. Therefore, when I received the second transfer, I added it to the first transfer that I had saved and used it to put up a retail shop. This was the best move ever since we currently make triple the profits we used to make. I can proudly say that our living standards have improved."

"In my opinion, GiveDirectly does so well in supporting needy people like me in society. Its staffs are very truthful and very patient with the recipients. It also does well in creating awareness to all the community members, as a result, none of my community members has been deceived. I have not been able to observe what GiveDrectluy does not do well."
