Sharon
received a $22 sixteenth payment.
"I am part of a merry go round group that was initiated in the village among people receiving GiveDirectly transfers. Once I receive the money from this merry go round, then I will combine it with the money obtained from the tomato harvest and finally be able to buy the long awaited dairy cow. Buying this dairy cow shall help me a lot in meeting the basic household needs by selling the surplus of milk produced."

Ambrose
received a $22 seventeenth payment.
"I would say that the biggest difference is that I was able to buy a cow using the transfers, something that I had only been dreaming of for ages. Were it not for the transfers, I do not think it would have been possible for me to be able to have purchased it. What I know is that the cow will give birth some time to come and of course with time the population will keep growing which means that in case I will have the opportunity to sell them out then I will be able to cash out on such transactions."

Beatrice
received a $22 sixteenth payment.
"Having improved my farming both subsistence and livestock farming I still feel I should do more in the livestock farming as I work towards purchasing a cow. I already have five goats but still, I have an additional goal to purchase one after every two months so that at the end of four months I will be having enough to sell and at least purchase a cow."

Mical
received a $22 twelfth payment.
"My new goals to buy a dairy cow. Dairy cows are the biggest investments one can ever have. I still don't understand why people have not realized that and I want to take advantage of that. I am sure I will succeed because there is no competition. I want to get milk that I can consume and sell some in order to get money and stop depending on casual jobs. I hope that I will find a good cow that will help me meet my goals."

Shida

"I spent my transfer in paying school worth 10,000/- for my daughter who is studying at State House Girls High School. I also bought a cow worth 13,000/- so that I can get milk for my family when she gives birth. I also paid 4000/- as a deposit for timber that I will use for building a better house. My house is almost falling down. I will use the rest of the money to purchase iron sheets and in paying workers who will build the house. "

Joseph
received a $22 thirteenth payment.
"Currently, I do not have a cow and I buy milk daily. This is expensive because I do not have a reliable source of income thus making it difficult to afford it. Therefore, in the next six months of my life, I expect to have bought a cow a dairy cow. This will not only me save me from the daily expense of buying milk but also earn me income from selling some liters to the neighborhood."

Reuben
received a $22 sixteenth payment.
"Two months ago I borrowed money from the bank and bought a cow. I had always wanted to buy a dairy cow but since I couldn't buy it using the wages I get from casual jobs, I decided to loan some money from the bank. I don't regret this decision because the cow calved a few weeks ago. I was lucky to get an expectant cow which was a double blessing to me. I no longer buy milk. The idea of buying a cow came when I got this transfer. The monthly transfers and the proceeds from the sale of milk will now help me pay the loan. Life is now better because we have more than one source of income"
