Agnes
received a $22 sixteenth payment.
"In the next six months, I would wish to complete the payment of the water tank which I obtained on a hire purchase terms. I have been paying a total sum of 2000 KES every month which I am to pay over a period of five months. The total cost of the tank was 20000 KES. I found the deal good since I am already enjoying the use of the tank even though I have not completed its payment. I also aspire to purchase a cow since in the next six months since I have been saving for. I have been hoping to accumulate my savings to around 20000 KES so that I can obtain a mature breed of a cow. All this will be possible since we joined hands with my husband and every month's savings is 4000KES."

Mornica
received a $22 fifteenth payment.
"My life is currently different from how it was four months ago in that I now look healthy and happy. I now have a reliable source of income through the sales of milk from the dairy cow I bought recently. This completely changed my life because I can now make plans and achieve most of my goals. Initially, I would only make daily plans because of the nature of my Job. I never made any big progress because I didn't have hope in life. I thank God for bringing this organization to our village because I now live with a purpose."

received a $519 second payment.
"I bought 2 cows worth 30,000/- which I can sell again in future when I am in need of money. I aso bought iron sheets and nails worth 10,300/- which I will use to build another house. The house I am currently living in is poorly ventilated and it is thatched. Getting grass for replacement has been a challenge. I bought a goat worth 2500/-. The goat is like my savings because I would have wasted the entire amount. I have been using the rest to buy timber and food for my family."

"When I heard that Givedirectly will be coming to our village,I was elated.I felt that my dream of building a house and owning a dairy cow will finally be fulfilled.I have young children who still need milk with their meals and having to always buy from neighbours is very expensive- especially because I do not have a steady income.I also live with my family in a very small house and I would wish to build another one so that this current one serves as our kitchen.Receiving this money means that I will be able to actualize the above two which I see as my priority at the moment"

"I am a casual labourer in the village. My typical day involves wedding people's farms, helping with the harvests as well as sometimes fence their paddocks. At most days my wages would be in kind in the form of foodstuff. The small cash I get usually pay for the milk I take on credit at the end of the month. Receiving this money would make so many dreams come true. I am going to buy two dairy cows using my first transfer. This is going to be a constant source of income and form of savings that will secure my children's education in future. "

"Receiving this money comes as a relief to me. It has always been my desire to start a tailoring business in my village; I have a certificate in tailoring and dress making. I have also been longing to buy a dairy cow and to rear some poultry for commercial purposes. Therefore, receiving this money is a big boost for me because I will be able to accomplish my plans. Thank you GiveDirectly."

"I intend to buy a small piece of land using the money since i still live in my father's land because i never got married. The remaining part of my transfer will enable me build a three roomed iron roofed house since the small hut my children and i currently live in is too old and leaks during rainy seasons. I also plan to buy a dairy cow that will be my source of income from selling milk since the current casual jobs i engage in drains my energy and affects me healthwise."

"Receiving this money means a food secure home for me and my family. I plan to buy new tools for my husband's mining business because the current ones are old and weak thus really slowing down his work. This will help us get more income that can be used to purchase food and other essential things. I also plan on buying indigenous dairy cows whose milk I can sell to my neighbors and thus make extra income to meet our family needs. "

received a $537 initial payment.
"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I now own a dairy cow. Before GiveDirectly visited, owning a dairy cow was only but a wish which I could not achieve due to lack of money. I am now glad since I no longer incur the cost of buying milk on a daily basis like before as I now get it from my cow which I bought using my transfer."

"My biggest hardship is inability to pay bride price to my in laws. In our culture, the boy is expected to pay an agreed number of cows to the girls family as an appreciation for the proper nurturing their daughter. I have not fulfilled that obligation hence I have no respect from my in laws and people around me."
