How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different in that, I have bought most of the needed materials(cement, iron sheets, timber, door, 2 windows and money for labour) to be used in the construction process. I am making bricks and when the bricks are ready, the construction work will start. I am currently sleeping in grass thatched hut that leaks whenever it, I going to be relieved from leaking roof once my iron roofed house is complete. In addition, I have settled the debt I had that enabled me repossess my piece of land from the money lender. Previously, I didn't have a stable source of income to meet my demands.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well to give me cash that I used to settle the debt and acquire construction materials(cement, iron sheets, timber, a door and 2 windows) for constructing an iron roofed house. GiveDirectly has only done good on my side.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer to purchase a cow, a piglet, foodstuffs and I settled the debt that enabled me repossess my piece of land from the money lender.I have not yet spent UGX 342,000 but intend to spend it for paying construction workers.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The big difference in my life is that I have bought iron sheets and made the bricks that will enable me construct a permanet house for my self. I have also paid a debt and got back the land that was given out as security. I was not happy before I got the money because my land was in some one's custody and the bed I slept on was not confortable.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received the money on my phone, I felt so happy. I came out of the house at 4:00am to ululate because I was very excited.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I used my first transfer for buying food, household items(metalic box and a mattress), 20 iron sheets. I used UGX 300,000 for paying laborers who made bricks, cleared a debt of UGX 400,000 and hired farm land at UGX 200,000.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving tho money means sleeping in an iron roofed house that is specious enough for me and my household members. Currently, I am sleeping in a grass thatched house that is made up of blocks and a smeared floor. It is expensive to repair it because it is difficult to find grass.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of the day is around 2:00pm, after the day's work, I go to the nearest center to socialize with friends which makes me forget of any challenge that I have.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest hardship is inability to pay bride price to my in laws. In our culture, the boy is expected to pay an agreed number of cows to the girls family as an appreciation for the proper nurturing their daughter. I have not fulfilled that obligation hence I have no respect from my in laws and people around me.
