Jane
received a $249 second payment.
"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am staying a peaceful and hopeful life. This is because I bought a cow that is almost giving birth. I am hoping very soon it will give birth hence I will have milk for both domestic and for business. I know the business is quite demanding but it a risk worth taking because there is high demand for milk in this region."

Gordon
received a $22 fifteenth payment.
"When we started receiving these transfers, a few other recipients from within the village and I formed a merry go round where we would give our transfers to a one person on a particular month then next to another. This was so helpful because when one receives the money in bulk, it is easier to spend it on more worthwhile stuff other than on foodstuff. When I received my share a couple of months ago I bought a heifer which I know will bear a calf in the next few years. I am glad that I now own a cow that without Give Directly, would have been impossible to buy due to low income."

Hesbon
received a $22 sixteenth payment.
"My life has really improved and I'm grateful to Give Directly. This is because I now own cows which are a form of investment and at the same time, I was able to lease a piece of land where I'm currently farming both for sale and for the family. To me, these are great developments project that will sustain me even when I don't have a source of income. Considering I am a casual laborer the side hustles will come in handy when I don't a casual job to do."

Kenedy
received a $536 initial payment.
"The biggest difference in my life is that now I got three heifers that I didn't have previously. I had sold the cows which I had to purchase a piece of land in our neighbourhood. I felt it was important to buy the heifers then later sell them and buy another cow from the sales of the heifer. I feel like my hope of living a good life once more has been revived."

Dennis
received a $22 sixteenth payment.
"Farming effectively has made me one of the few empowered youths in the village. I have about 15 chickens that are already at the stage of laying eggs. I expect to start earning a daily income from selling the eggs. I also have started learning to trade in livestock especially cows from my father's expertise. I use part of the money to contribute to buying an animal to be sold at a profit and hence I get a share of the income. My life is currently different because I can afford my basic needs and those of my family."

Isaak
received a $22 fifteenth payment.
"My new goal for the next four months is to buy a dairy cow. My family will not only get milk for consumption but I will also be selling at our nearby shopping center and use the money I will be getting to cater to my family's needs. This has been my dream but I could achieve it because of my poverty status."

"My family moved into this village three years ago .When we arrived we built a small house and a few months later decided to expand it.While the construction work was going on,a strange liveatock disease killed all our cows one after the other.I have children who still require milk and as well, the sale of milk was a source of income for us.When this happened, our focus now had to shift from the house to buying two cows since this was a priority.Since then the house has remained incomplete.Receiving this money therefore means that I will be able to complete building our family house"
