"Receiving this money means I will be able to fulfill my dream of owning a spacious house. My current house is very small when my relatives comes I find it very difficult to accommodate them, forcing them to seek shelter from my neighbors. I always feel disgraced by this action. When I receive the Give directly transfers I will use 50,000 shillings to build a three-roomed house. I will also use 50,000 shillings to buy two cows and ten goats. The cows will supply me with milk to provide income while the goats will keep as a future financial emergency."

"A decent shelter for my family is what receiving this money means to me. Currently, I am living in a small grass-roofed house which I use as a kitchen and gallery at the sometimes. I am planning to spend $300 to build a two-roomed irony roofed house for my family a transformation I have been longing for. The remaining amount will assist me in starting goats rearing which will be my investment to supplement my earnings from my charcoal vending job."

"I have always had a desire to have my own house after my previous one fell due to heavy rainfall. I have had to live in a kitchen together with my 2 children for 8 months now. When I receive my GiveDirectly transfers, I intend to use 50,000 shillings to build a three-roomed house for my family. This will regain the privacy which I lost for a long time. I will also use 12,000 shillings to buy 6 goats which I will sell later when I have a financial emergency. The remaining amount I will save for my children's school fees when schools resume."

"A decent education for my children has been my greatest desire and I have consistently struggled to ensure that, they are at school. With all my efforts, I am still worried about how I can manage to raise their school fees once they advance to secondary school since I have 3 who are in standard 8. My plan once I receive this money is to buy 10 goats for 3000 shillings each. These will reproduce fast and by the time they join secondary school, I will be sure of sorting them. Also, I will buy oxen that will help me upscale my farming to have food security in my household. For the second transfer, it will help my husband to start a livestock business to earn extra income for the family; sustaining basic needs like school fees. This will change our livelihood for the better, a transformation that I have wished for a long time."

"My greatest desire has been to own an iron-roofed house for myself because the one I currently have is small and at the same time, I use it as a kitchen. Since it is a grass-thatched one, it's very smoky and I hardly have nice sleep because I use firewood as the source of light. Receiving this money means a dream fulfilled because I will be able to construct a 2 roomed house for $300, and also to install a small solar panel of $70 something that will assure me of a better life since I will have peaceful nights. On the other hand, I will have to start livestock keeping because it is the only investment that I can do, to help my children in the future; thus, I will start with 7 goats for $35 each. This will change my livelihood for the better, a life that I have yearned for a long time."
