"It has been the trend in our village that every household is transiting from the old grass thutched houses that requires a lot of maintenance to modern, decent iron roofed ones. My wish has been to build a good shelter for my family like others in the village because the one I have is small, leaking and about to fall. Receiving this money means realization of my dream since I am planning to use $ 300 to purchase iron sheet, building poles and labor charges. I will use $ 600 of the remaining amount to clear School fees for my 2 children who are in form 3."

"I have two sons who are teenagers yet we still sleep under one roof. According to our culture, teenage boys are not supposed to sleep in the same house with their parents but circumstances have forced us to.Receiving this money will therefore enable me to build a two roomed iron roofed house for them. This will cost me approximately $300. I will also use $200 to buy a heifer cow that will be my store of wealth to be sold next year once it multiplies to pay school fees for my son who will be joining high school next year."

"Receiving this money means a better shelter for my family. The motive behind this desire is the fact that I live in a single- roomed house. It is this very small structure that serves as bedroom and kitchen. Due to it's size it is very uncomfortable to live in since it gets extremely hot and smoky especially after cooking and my eyes are not sustaining a lot of smoke at my age. I intend to buy 20 pieces iron sheets at the cost of shillings 500 each and 30 pieces of roofing frames at shillings 300 each the remaining amount will pay labour for construction."

"My house looks new from the outside but its roof is just braving the strong winds of our area since the nails rusted and they can not fully hold the iron sheets to the poles, something that has worried me for a long time. I have wished to repair the roof but due to the financial crisis, this has never come through. My plan once I receive this money is to spend utmost 350 dollars to repair my house to make it strong and this will make me enjoy my nights. On the other hand, I plan to buy 7 goats at 35 dollars each to start livestock keeping that can help me sort my needs in the future, and this will change my life for the better."

"A decent shelter for my family is what receiving this money means to me. Currently, I am living in a small grass-roofed house which I use as a kitchen and gallery at the sometimes. I am planning to spend $300 to build a two-roomed irony roofed house for my family a transformation I have been longing for. The remaining amount will assist me in starting goats rearing which will be my investment to supplement my earnings from my charcoal vending job."

"My current house is in a bad state;the roofs are leaking and the walls are almost down. It is also very small. Receiving this money will help me build a one bed room house with iron sheets to replace the grass thatched one. This will cost me approximately 300 USD. I will then buy two oxen and a plough to help in cultivating my farm. The oxen will cost me 220 USD. Ploughing using oxen help the crops survive even with little rains."

"I live in a community where owning livestock is a sign of wealth and I have desired for a long time that I starting animal keeping. Due to the financial crisis, this desire has never come through and I have been living a life of regret. Receiving this money means a dream fulfilled since I plan to spend my first transfer to buy 4 indigenous dairy cows which I estimate to cost me $130 per cow. With time I will be able to milk them and sell within our village to get an income that can support my family's basic needs like food. On the other hand, I plan to use my second transfer to construct an iron-roofed house for myself because the one I currently have is grass-thatched, small, and at the same time used as a granary plus a kitchen. This will change my life's status quo and hence a better living."

"I live in a single-roomed house that is leaking in almost every corner. I have to keep changing the bed position during rainy seasons to save the bedding from getting wet. The whole house becomes very cold because of the leakages and my children often fall sick because of this. I incur a lot of money to treat them from flu-related illnesses. I also feel ashamed when I usher in visitors because of the state of my house. If I get lucky to be successfully enrolled, my number one priority is to construct a better house. I plan to put up a two-roomed house of 24 pieces of iron sheets, each costing 500 shillings. I will also buy 30 pieces of roofing frames each costing 300 shillings. Receiving this money will mean a lot to me because it will enable me to have a better house that will change the face of my family."
