Zawadi
received a $501 initial payment.
"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am currently living in my new spacious and iron roofed house. The previous house was not spacious and I had to squeeze my household items and my children had to seek shelter elsewhere at night. I am at peace now because my children have their own place to stay. They no longer seek shelter from neighbours."

Saumu
received a $501 initial payment.
"I was previously sheltering in a grass thatched house with no hopes of upgrading to a better house. When I received the transfer, I bought enough building materials which include iron sheets, nails building poles and paid for the cost of labour involved. I am now sheltering in my new iron roofed house, which makes it to be the biggest difference in my daily life. I would be staying in my old grass thatched house had I not received the transfer."

Sidi
received a $501 initial payment.
"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am currently sheltering in a new decent and iron roofed house. I finally managed to build this house through the transfers after many failed attempts due to financial constraints. I was previously living in a grass thatched house for many years. Had I not received the money, it would have taken years to fulfill this. I am happy to live in an iron roofed house. I also have a cow which I am keeping. I am expecting it to reproduce and increase in number. I will be getting milk to sell and earn an some cash."

Kadii
received a $501 initial payment.
"I spent the better part of my life living in a shanty grass thatched hut. I had no plans of upgrading to a better house because of my lowly financial status. I desired to one day live in an iron roofed house but I could not afford to buy the materials at my own cost. It was until GiveDirectly came to me when I began to see my dream being fulfilled. Through their financial support, I managed to buy enough building materials which include iron sheets, nails and building poles and constructed a decent iron roofed house. I am grateful to GiveDirectly for enabling me to build my dream house and this makes it to be the biggest difference in my daily life."

Adija
received a $338 second payment.
"My life would have been terrible if not for the transfer. I lost my house and other household items in 2018 due to floods since then, I have never been at peace. I tried working as a house girl in the city even doing a business but nothing gave me enough money to construct a house. The has helped me to have a nice and we'll structured house that I couldn't manage but only dreamed of. I now have an iron sheet roofed house. Thanks alot to GD for the cash gift."

Violet
received a $338 second payment.
"I am grateful to GiveDirectly because I did not have a good house. The house I live in has a bad roof but now I have bought iron sheets and timber so that I should fix the roof of my house. I also bought two blankets and a matress so that I should sleep on a comfortable place."

Lozi
received a $338 second payment.
"I used the money to buy 35 iron sheets and poles for the roof of the house that i plan on building. I also kept some of the money so that I can pay the builders when the constructions start after the rainy season is over.
I also spared some money so that I can buy a bicycle so that I nolonger have problems moving around."
