"I wake up in the morning,do my house chores and I go to buy water at a water point for home use. At around 9:00am I leave to go look for casual jobs in Eastleigh. Later in the afternoon, I go back home, rest while I wait for my husband to come home. I prepare supper, later watch some televison and rest.
In my free time I stay at home and read the bible, watch television and at time go out to chat with my neighbours."

Erick
received a $536 initial payment.
"Previously I could waste a lot of time idling in the market center after I had come from the farm because I had nothing to do but this is not the case currently. After leaving the farm I spend time looking after the cattle which I bought with the GD money at the same time I also tress to water on a daily basis which I panted with part of the GD money. This consumes a lot of my time and by the time I retire to bed, I feel happy knowing that I'm making progress in my life. This is the biggest difference in my daily life."

"As a peasant farmer, I rely primarily on growing kales in my 0.25 acres garden. My day starts in the early morning when I visit the farm to weed and plant additional vegetables. At the course of the day, I harvest and sell the vegetables to my customers who come to collect them. In the evening, I harvest some vegetables for my household consumption before watering them and returning home. Hence, the happiest part of my day is in the evening when going home with some income (usually around 0.8 to 1.2 USD a day) and vegetables for my family. "

"My usual day involves six hours in my quarter an acre farm where I start by watering the kales and thereafter weed the beans. Afterwards I come back into my house take lunch and have a rest- This is the time I feel relaxed, re-energized and ready to go to my usual night shift job as a security guard in a nearby local school."

"As a farmer,I have been relying on rainfall for farming for more than a decade. However, for the last two years the rains have been very unreliable leading to acute food insecurity not only for my family but for the whole community.I thought of buying a water pump as an alternative but could not raise money for the same.Receiving money from Give directly therefore means I have the ability to purchase the water pump and conduct irrigation from the dam. This will help me upscale farming which will in turn enhance food security for my family and the community at large."
