Amos
received a $50 fourth payment.
"The biggest difference in my life is that I no longer to buy food and pay rent as I used to do in the past. Before I received my transfer, I was depending on casual jobs such as fetching and selling water to my neighbors and the money I got was little. At times I could sleep hungry when I did not get money to buy food. I am now happy since I have enough food in my house and can pay rent in time."

Hellen
received a $449 second payment.
"The most evident change is that I am now debt free because I was able to service an outstanding loan that had spent over two years. I also bought a bicycle that has made my transport means very easy and it is also used for fetching water from the borehole.
However, in the past I was sad because I could not service that loan. I was living in shame though I could not admit it. More so I used to carry one jerrycan to fetch water which was cumbersome. With the bicycle now, I can carry four jerrycans of water at once."

"The biggest change in my daily life is that, I have acquired a bicycle that has eased fetching water and taking my child to the hospital, I can now carry 4 jerrycans at once with my bicycle. I have also got bricks for constructing a permanent house for myself. Before, I used to move on foot to fetch water, carrying only one jerrycan that was time consuming and tiresome. I was not having money to buy bricks much as I wanted to construct a permanent house."

Ivene
received a $546 initial payment.
"I spent part of my transfer to purchase building materials. We have been dreaming of building a larger house because the one we had was not spacious enough especially the time when we get visitors. Also, the nature of this house could not harvest rainwater. We wanted this not only to accommodate visitors but also to assist us to harvest rainwater. This will assist us to reduce the long-distance walking searching for water. Lastly, I spent the other part of transfer on purchasing a dairy cow. Buying milk every day is very expensive because we depend on casual jobs as our source of income and sometimes we could not secure one because most of the people in my area depend on it also. Thanks to GiveDirectly. The transfers have really brought change in our lives."

Magret
received a $466 initial payment.
"The greatest difference in my life is that, I have built a kitchen for my self. I feel relieved from issues that were bothering me especially debts. I also look forward to plastering my house since materials have been procured. Previously, I was cooking in a grass thatched kitchen with a leaking roof and whenever it rained, water could drip in both food on the cooking stove and that preserved for future consumption."

Emily
received a $527 second payment.
"I spent part of my second transfer to practice improved farming. Part of the transfer was used to buy hybrid seeds for planting ,part of it was used in land preparation for planting. The money was also very helpful in that I used it to buy a water tank that has enabled me harvest rain water and avoid the hustle of having to travel for long distances in search for water from the streams. As for the farming, I am looking forward to having a very huge harvest this season following the improved farming methods. I used the remaining amount to buy school uniforms for my children"
