How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfer in that I could be struggling so much in doing the casual jobs to pay school fees for my children in secondary school. Currently, I have devoted all my energy in my own work and this earns as an income.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well by giving out unconditional cash transfer to people to decide on their own. This has to empower the living standard of many people across the county.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spend my second transfer to buy a motorcycle. This earns me an income daily because I used it for a taxi . I do transport pieces of luggage for people at the center near home. I also have a business of selling second-hand clothes and this motorcycle helps me in transporting my stock to the market.I'm so grateful for the support.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
I have taken small business and farming as my primary sources of income in my family. I have children in various school that I have always struggled to give them the best in their academics but this had always been challenging raising their fee on time. I always work under pressure to meet this and sometimes forced to sell my assets to pay the fee. The biggest difference in my daily life currently is a little pressure that I currently work under since I have paid fee for my children on time which had to press me a lot before. I am happy I can humble work to get something for my future family financial needs and my children have a better time to study unlike before when could be sent home due to fee arrears.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I had been waiting eagerly to receive the said amount since we were enrolled this made me built a lot of concern of any message notification on my phone. During one night early April, I was amazed to receive the message notification from GD that I had received mone and I was left sleepless with happiness. I shared the news with my husband who was also happy to hear.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I have children in various schools and raising their fee is always a challenge even though I engage in farming and small business. I took KES20000 to settle their fee so that I could have humble time to work for future needs and also save other acquired assets that I could have sold to meet the fee. I took KES8000 to improve my poultry farming since this has always been my source of daily income that helps meet household needs hence improving it could allow me to get a higher income to save or spend on other needs. I also spend KES 22000 to improve my business because for this had helped me meet family basic needs especially my children fees hence my future financial needs will be taken care of by the returns from this business. I took the remaining part of my first transfer to spend on my family basic needs mainly clothing to add to what he had before.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Since I deal with groceries, the biggest challenge has been the transport expenses which I incur.I mainly get my supplies from the neighbouring county of Narok which is quite a distance.I am planning to buy a motorcycle which will help reduce this expenses and also facilitate mobility to the market during market days.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My day is usually very busy. From going to the river to fetch water and looking after cattle and sometimes crossing over to the neighbouring county to get grocery supplies. The happiest part of my day is in the evening since I get to relax with my children after a busy day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Having a stable source of income has been the biggest hardship in my life.Sometime back we use to depend on farming but due to the climatic conditions and crop diseases, this has changed. My husband who was also doing some cattle business to support the family's needs is now a casual labourer since the business collapsed. As a casual labourer, getting work to do is not guaranteed.I am now left with a bigger burden which has forced me to start a grocery business.I wake up every morning to go and buy groceries which I come and sell at my shop and also during market days across my subcounty.I have two children in secondary school which has made me feel more weight.
