Julius
received a $22 twentieth payment.
"My new goal as of now is to build a new kitchen. Currently, I use a grass-thatched mud-walled hut as my kitchen. It is also the room where my kids sleep. This is why I am working hard to ensure I build an iron-roofed house that will enable me to harvest rainwater."

Peter
received a $22 twentieth payment.
"Active participation in the merry-go-round in the last four months is the biggest difference in my daily life. This project has seen me improve in many developmental areas in our household. Paying school fees, availing enough foodstuff to the household, ensuring that my children dress well and finally the biggest of all has been the construction of a concrete water tank with a capacity of 18000 liters has been encouraging to me. All these are courtesy of the transfers I have been receiving every month which have enabled me to constantly contribute to the merry-go-round."

Jonah
received a $22 twentieth payment.
"After completion of the first project of purchasing two sheep, I never stopped my participation in the merry-go-round. This is due to the additional goal I want to accomplish in the next four months. Our household is situated high in the hilly side and fetching water from the foot of the hills has really been hard. Together with my wife, we have made up our mind to purchase a large water tank once we receive our second turn in the merry-go-round. This will act as a reservoir since we'll redirect water from the roofs during rainy seasons into the tank. With this project, it will really help us a lot during dry seasons since we'll be having a reserve."

Janet
received a $22 twentieth payment.
"Now I am almost done saving for a water tank which is the greatest achievement so far. I am intending to spend my saving together with my next transfers to purchase a water tank. This would save me from a tedious process of fetching drinking water from a distant stream."

Christine
received a $537 initial payment.
"When I received my first transfer, I bought some building materials to use in finishing building a house for my family. I bought some paints, waterproof polythene paper, gravel, sand, cement and also paid a mason for this work. I settled on this since I had started building a spacious house for my family three years ago but I was not able to complete this work due to overwhelming family needs. I had decided to put it on hold so that I would concentrate on my children's education first. Using the remaining amount, I bought one sack of maize flour for our consumption."

"Since I got married here about three years ago I have been grappling with typhoid fever throughout the year. Doctors have owed the infection to the consumption of contaminated water. In Kapoleseroi and surrounding community access to clean and safe water for drinking is a huge challenge. All water we use for domestic purposes including drinking are drawn from stagnant and open water pans in the village. In a community which is not open defecation free and still both humans and animals share from the same source of water, our pans have become a safe haven for bacterial infections. My biggest worry is that these infections may escalate to more malignant diseases. I do not have enough money for such uncertainties. "

"I spend most of the day alone mostly herding my heifers. It is always lonely here and this often saddens me.In the afternoon,my grandchildren return from school and as usual children enjoy their grandfather's company. They are always around my homestead till late in the evening when they return to their homes. While they are here, they help me with some of the household chores i.e collecting firewood and fetching water hence giving me some time to rest. This is often the happiest part of my day"

"Givedirectly transfers I will spend on completing my iron-roofed house. I have a big number of children to pay their fees hence can not finish pastering and putting avarander on my house. The rain water is washing a way the wall and may collapse If not attended soon. The house will definitely look nice and strong once it's completed and may stay longer."

"Receiving this money means I will purchase two cows to act as an investment. When the cows produce, I can sell some in order to pay school fees for the children and pay bride price for some of them.
I am currently using farming as my main source of income in order to raise income for the household.
I will then build a varendar for my house such that rain water can not weaken it."
