"We are in deep povety and as you can see we are old we can't be so productive as we were in the past, we lack financial support, we also suffer from several chronic diseases, so the money will be helpful for buying medicine and other basic needs"

"I was at home relaxing when my helper came to me singing happily and informed me that GiveDirectly had finally sent the promised money and my heart was filled with joy from hearing this. My spouse was sick and needed urgent medication and with this money at my disposal, I knew that he would finally get the required medical attention. I am happy that he has enough medicine to last him till the end of the month and I am grateful to GiveDirectly for making this possible."

received a $496 second payment.
"The plan I had was to pay for the medication that I had started after undergoing a scanning catered for by the first transfer. I had obtained some of the recommended and prescribed medicines but not all, so with this transfer all I wanted was to complete the medication. This is because I was almost bedridden and I could not even help with the duties around the house, so I wanted to be in good health and fulfil my responsibilities."

"If I am bless to receive money from Givedirectly, I intend to pay for me and my sick son treatment and use the remaining to fix my house. My son has been suffering from epilepsy and cataract on his eyes for over four years. I have been carrying him from one traditional treatment place to another, but the problem has not been solve because there has not been money to try western medicines or hospital. Right now, he's at another native doctor but no improvement in his condition as yet. For me, I had had severe stomach pain for over three years too, but no money to go to a good hospital to check and see what happening. My son sickness has taken all of my attention and time. Even though I am a widow and that I depend on picking broom stick's to sell, the money I get from the sales is not sufficient to take care of me and my son's sickness and also provide food for us. The rain has also added to my trouble by damaging the house my late husband left behind by washing off the mud that we plastered it with. I just wish I had enough money to buy cement to plastered the house before it falls, but can't get hold of money. So, any way that Givedirectly can help me and my son to improve our lives will make me happy."

"The biggest hardship I have faced is me being epileptic. I have gone to hospitals but recently I have not being managing because I have to pay at the hospital and also, although I take the medicine, there's no improvement really and when I have episodes, they are so bad and take long to stop. In the end with lack of money, I have been going for local herbalist and I have seen improvements. This money will help cushion my family in times I can't provide because of my sickness."

"I will be able to buy food myself, usually, my children come home with food that lasts me a week till their next visit. Now that I will be receiving money, I can easily purchase food for myself anytime I want to.
The rest I will use as transport and purchase medicine whenever I go for a check-up."

""My health remains the number one challenge I'm currently faced with. I have been struggling with this strange condition for more than three years. Initially, I did not know what it was. I tried all kind of traditional medicine but all to no avail. I was finally diagnosed with body infection last year. I have spent all I've ever earned trying to seek solution. I don't have enough money to continue the treatment. Therefore, this condition remains my primary challenge till this date""

received a $497 initial payment.
"I was lying on my bed, not feeling well and I had not purchased any medicine because I could not afford to buy them. My phone however was always close to me with the expectation that GiveDirectly would send us the transfer that day. At around 8 AM my phone beeped, an alert of an incoming message. I was reluctant to check but I gathered courage and to my surprise, I had received my first transfer from GiveDirectly. I felt happy and relieved at once and thanked the Almighty for the fortune."

"The biggest hardship I have faced is health. I have been diagnosed as a diabetic and I have high blood pressure. I'm unable to walk well and each week I have to spend money to buy medicine. My children who work in house construction and other casual jobs do their best to chip in but some days I don't have money for the medicine."
