Kazungu
received a $25 tenth payment.
"As an individual, I deeply appreciate the significance of education. My foremost accomplishment, both presently and in the future, revolves around supporting my children's education. By doing so, I aim to ensure their path towards a brighter and more prosperous future. Additionally, I am determined to empower myself through self-employment. With the promising rainfall, we anticipate a bountiful harvest. The abundance of food will allow me to save a substantial amount, enabling me to acquire my own motorcycle. Consequently, I will no longer be required to share my earnings with anyone, gaining greater financial independence."

Sharlet
received a $396 second payment.
"Our dream was to have the Public service vehicle but since we could not fulfill that dream our motorcycle plan is our current goal. Our aim is to put a motorcycle on the road that will be able to earn us a sufficient income to fully pay off its purchase and then once this is done we will use the earnings to educate our four children whose education has in the past been a burden to us. We also hope to ensure the home has a sufficient supply of food from this business."

Florence
received a $144 initial payment.
"The biggest in my daily life after receiving the first transfer was the availability of adequate food. This included the newfound ability to purchase a goat and immediately slaughter it, a decision that greatly aided in my postpartum recovery and facilitated breastfeeding. Prior to the transfer, food scarcity was a constant concern, but with the support from GiveDirectly, I could ensure that my nutritional needs were met. The provision of enough food, along with the goat's meat, made a substantial difference in my overall well-being and contributed to a healthier and more nourishing environment for myself and my newborn."

Baraka
received a $25 fourteenth payment.
"My ultimate goal as a husband and father is to provide my wife and daughter with a better quality of life where necessities such as food, housing, and clothing are not a concern. Currently, my focus is on relocating from my paternal compound and acquiring a piece of land. This would allow me to build a decent home for my family. I believe that living separately from my extended family would help avoid conflicts and encourage personal growth and development."

Nicholas
received a $383 second payment.
"I applaud GiveDirectly for the endless support of unconditional cash transfers. I am glad this is not a loan, and therefore one is lifted out of poverty through the financial support. If you make a trip to the village, then one easily realizes the change as people have constructed houses, children have gone to school, and families have put food on the table. I am also happy that the enrollment was done without discrimination, and so far everything is amazing about the organization."

Cheruiyot
received a $383 second payment.
"As a man of the house and a breadwinner, one has to make sure the family's needs are fully catered for, and a single source of income is not fulfilling. Therefore, aside from the two dairy cows I own, I hope to add more so as to produce at least 20 liters of milk per day to sell to the milk vendors and earn the family of four some income and food as well. In addition, I am hopeful that I will have cleared the motorcycle loan, hence saving the $3.5 I get from leasing it out. I will use this savings and the profits from the milk sales on the additional cow."

Moses
received a $25 tenth payment.
"I would love to continue supporting the education of my children who are still in primary school. I want to ensure they have the opportunity to study until they graduate from their desired level of education. Even though I engage in house construction jobs to accomplish this, I believe that the cash transfers will play a crucial role in supporting their education and helping them achieve their goals as well."

Viola
enrolled.
"I live in a small one-roomed house with my six children. The space is very small to accommodate all of us forcing my teenage son to sleep at a neighbor's house at the same time I cannot host visitors. I am so ashamed since there is a lack of privacy too having to share a room with my husband and children. I am not able to build a better house as the little money I get from my motorcycle business is enough for food and school levies only. When I receive these transfers, I will build a three-roomed iron sheet house where everyone in the family can sleep and stay comfortably. I am thankful to Give Directly for changing my life and I am assured of a better living ahead. I will also buy enough and nutritious food for my family."

Victor
received a $325 third payment.
"I spent $300 of the recent transfer to settle a debt that I had borrowed from a friend. This was important as it allowed me to combine it with the previous transfer, enabling me to purchase a motorcycle. This acquisition was necessary to facilitate my poultry business, where I source poultry from the village and sell them in town. Previously, transportation was a challenge as I had no means of transport, resulting in me having to walk and carry the poultry myself. However, with the motorcycle, transportation became much easier, enabling me to increase my supply and consequently rising my income. I am relieved that the loan has now been fully settled, and I no longer have to use my daily earnings to clear it.
With the remaining amount, I decided to invest in maize farming. This involved purchasing essential inputs and covering the labor costs for planting. My primary objective for this investment was to ensure a sustainable source of food for both myself and my younger brother, with whom I share a living arrangement. By cultivating maize, we aim to secure an adequate supply of food, improving our nutritional well-being and reducing the risk of hunger."

Hellen
received a $398 second payment.
"It is everyone's prayer to reap well from what he or she sows. Since my family of seven depends on the maize farming on the 1 acre of land I own, I am certain the produce is insufficient to cater for all the family's needs. Therefore, I hope to add another 1 acre piece to sow maize, cow peas, and beans so as to produce food for the household besides the $5 we earn daily from the motorcycle taxi business. We hope to use the income from the motorcycle taxi business as well as the maize sales to make this a success."
