"I have always longed to venture into vegetable farming ever since but finances could not allow me to do proper farming. Initially, my plants used to die due to lack of water during dry seasons and goats could eat up the whole farm due to lack of proper fencing. Upon receiving my first transfers I knew that finally, my opportune time had reached to improve my vegetable farming. I bought a water tank 7000 litres and metal stands to elevate the tank. This will help me store water during dry seasons. I also bought cedar poles, barbed wire, sand, cement, ballast, and chicken link to fence my farm to prevent any animal from encroaching into my farm. The remaining amount I bought seedlings that are currently in the nursery waiting to be transplanted. I am looking forward to purchasing a water pump and sprinklers to even make my farming more efficient."

"My life is currently different because I have established a poultry system. My brood of chicken has really become very large and is laying eggs. From this, I get a daily income. Before receiving these transfers, I used to rely on daily wages from hard labor. I could go for days without making any money because work is sometimes not available. This would be a very long day for me. Desperation for food would get me easily tempted to steal in order to find something to eat. When I received this money, this agony stopped as I am assured of an income from the eggs in my poultry project.I can now work on my own farm projects and make money instead of working for othe rpeople. under very low wages."

"The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer is the happiness I have gained from the success of the poultry farming I started with GD monthly transfers. Initially, I used to depend on hard, irregular and low paying casual jobs to meet my basic needs. After the demise of my father, I had to step in to support my mother in meeting some of the family's needs which has been such a big challenge for me. When the transfer came in, I took a step of starting a poultry rearing project. I began with a total of twenty-three chicken with fifteen currently in the egg laying stage. That translates to 150 KES a day on the sale of their eggs. This has made my life better since I am able to meet my family's needs with much ease and even save a small amount for any future financial emergencies or projects."

"I aim to continue growing the number of chicken in my poultry project. I use a brooder to hatch eggs. The brooder is borrowed from a friend and hope that I buy my own. I also want to keep expanding the poultry house and enclose it using a wire mesh to stop my chicken from straying into peoples farms. Enclosing it will also protect it from predators. This is the aim I have for the next four months."

"In the last four months, our farm had no livestock apart from the chicken which I had brought from my neighbor so that I can rear for him. School fees payment was so hard that the only time my children would enjoy their studies was the first wees after opening days before they were sent home to collect the money. nowadays things have really changed, I am paying the school fees comfortably and after my turn in the table banking group came, I managed to purchase my own heifer and currently planning to construct a poultry house. Thanks to GiveDirectly for turning things around."

"In the next four months, I intend to build a poultry house and restart rearing chicken. I sold all that I had while I was building my house. The house construction required a lot of resources hence I had to dell every property that I had. Restarting the poultry system will revive my constant source of income."
