Geofrey
received a $368 second payment.
"I spent my most recent transfer to pay for a course in Retail and Restaurant Management at an institution known as Mathare Old, in Kosovo Village. This course is offered by a Non-governmental Organization known as Generation. The organization mentors and supports youth at informal settlement areas and also connects youth to employers for interviews, once an individual completes training with them. I completed my short course and the organization organized for me an interview at the popular fast-food franchise, KFC(Kentucky Fried Chicken), at one of their branches at the Central Business District of Nairobi county. I now work there part-time as a waiter and I also assist with other roles in the kitchen. I studied this course to supplement my other income that I receive from poultry farming, so I can raise enough cash to begin a t-shirt printing business. Give Directly has truly changed my life."

Tergech
received a $23 twelfth payment.
"The biggest difference in my life is that I have started a poultry project that I did not have before. I started the project by buying chicken and building a big poultry house from the savings I made in a merry go round group using these transfers. I bought 15 chicken from which I get about 10 eggs every day. Selling these eggs earns me about KES 100 per day. This is helping me to meet my daily needs with ease."

Noah
received a $46 fourth payment.
"I dream of starting a business of buying chicks and rearing them up to such a time when they will be mature and ready for sell. The reason I want to start this business is to be financially stable in the unforeseeable future. I plan to join the university next year, so in case the money I will have accumulated by that time will not be enough, I will be able to rely on the chicken business where I will sell them out and make some little cash."

Erick
received a $23 twelfth payment.
"My main focus in the next four months is to actualize the just started poultry project. I am going to give much of my time and resources to this project such that in the next four months, we can be running a poultry unit with fifty egg laying chicken. This will greatly assist us in as far as meeting our household needs is concerned."

Ruth

"For the last four months, I channelled all my transfer to poultry farming. during that that I managed to buy fifty chicken which some are now laying eggs. In a week I get to sell three trays each at KES 300. The money which I get from selling eggs I spent to buy chicken feed and some to buy food for my family. I no longer spare part of my salary to buy food since I can get the money from selling eggs."

Joyce
received a $23 twelfth payment.
"Four months a go, I had only three chicken to rear within my compound. I have been able to increase the number of chicken gradually since then. I now have a hundred chicken to keep in my poultry unit. With these chicken, I have been able to collect up to twenty eggs per day from the chicken that have matured and very soon I am going to be collecting up to fifty eggs per day. The poultry keeping project has enabled me to meet most of my family's needs with much ease. I sell all my eggs at a favorable price and this has made me more self reliant than I was four months a go. I attribute my success in poultry keeping to the monthly transfers that I receive from GiveDirectly always. This has been the biggest difference in my life over the last four months."

Brenda
received a $23 twelfth payment.
"My life is currently different from how it was four months ago because of the savings that I now have. This is a good investment as it will help me build a proper poultry house in order to gain from the birds farming. I save KES 1500 from every transfer in a merry go round group. Additionally, I have about 5 chicken so far that are already laying eggs. This has become a very nice source of income. I sell eggs from the investment on a daily basis hence I currently meet my daily needs with ease."

Caroline
received a $23 twelfth payment.
"My new goal is to start poultry farming. I have been getting lessons from a program in the radio and from the knowledge which I have from my friends who have been practising poultry farming, I am certain I will be able to succeed in this business. It has a ready market and the chicken feeds are also locally available and less expensive. Right now I do not have a business and I thought poultry farming was the best option."

Anna
received a $23 twelfth payment.
"I have seen a great change since I started poultry farming and my additional goal is to build a good poultry house to accommodate more birds and add more chicken to my flock. There is a huge reward in poultry keeping as evidenced by the earnings which I got from a few birds which I have kept for the last couple of months. I believe that this will earn me more money and thus our living standard will improve."

Ann
received a $23 twelfth payment.
"The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months is that I can now afford most of the family's basic needs without any difficulty like it used to be four months before. I now have an established poultry unit that has expanded my income base and enabled me meet most of the family's bills with very little difficulty. I started with less than ten chicken but I now have 50 egg laying chicken. I collect up to 40 eggs per day and this is enough for me to buy chicken feeds and meet other family's needs. I have been able to lend a helping hand to my husband contrary to the days when we relied on him for almost everything that we needed. This has been the greatest difference in my daily life in the last four months."
