Julius
received a $22 twentieth payment.
"I had an accident in the year 2015. As a result, I stopped doing my business in livestock and chicken trading and started relying on my shoe mending job. Income from this job, however, was not enough. I had been under a long time of food insufficiency until when GD, came. I am a happy person as I can provide for my family just like before. In fact, I have a chicken project that I rub. I started the venture with the money from GiveDirectly. Today, as we speak, I have some eggs that I have already collected. This daily income form the project is giving me a good lively hood, unlike back when I used to rely on my job as a cobbler. I am been able to pay school fee for my child too!."

"Receiving this money means I will build a house that I specious enough to accommodate me and my children. The house I sleep in currently is shared with chicken which is not healthy.
In case of any balance, it will support me to pay off school fees for my children. My children don't attend classes regularly which has affected their performance in class."

Now I can proudly say that I farm, and rear livestock as my main source of income."

"Alongside the subsistence farming I have been doing, I have an additional goal to venture into poultry farming. I have always been motivated by the programs which I have been watching in the Television on the starting and managing of a poultry farming. So far I have been collecting the necessary materials to start it off and at the moment, I am planning to construct a chicken coop and later start introducing the chicks."

Peter
received a $22 twentieth payment.
"Even though I am receiving a consistent transfer from GiveDIrectly every month, it has been my prayer that I find another source of money to help me initiate other additional projects in our household. At the moment I have an additional goal to start a poultry farming which I believe will help me a great deal in income generation. I have picked on this project since it is way too good and simple to establish under small scale management. I am currently constructing a chicken coop which will then lead me to the next stage of obtaining chicks for the start of the project."

Norah
received a $22 twentieth payment.
"I recently bought a cow using the transfers I received from Give Directly. I bought a heifer that was almost giving birth. I did this using the money I saved form the transfers in a merry go round group. Apart from that I also bought about 12 chickens and are about to start hatching. I know from this I will be getting constant income from this business very soon. I feel like I have grown financially and very soon I will be stable once these two assets start generating profits."

"The house we live in is very small and with a rusty roof.It is just one room and the family is growing fast.I have three childre. We therefore need another house which this money from Give Directly will help us build. My second plan is starting poultry farming.I will begin by fencing my compound using mesh wire to ensure that it is enclosed well for poultry. From the sale of eggs and chicken I will get money to supplement what I get from my casual jobs.I get very little from casual jobs which is not enough to cater for all the basic needs."

"My life is different in that I am happy nowadays because this money has enabling me to have livestock and chicken at home. These are necessary assets at home that can be sold to solve any financial problem emanating in future. Before, without these, I was full of stress especially when any member of the family fell sick, because you have no where to get money to meet hospital bill. "

Paul
received a $22 nineteenth payment.
"Before I joined college, I depended on casual house construction jobs that did not earn me much which made it tough to take care of my needs, especially after my mother passed away forcing me to fend for myself. With the help of these transfers, I was able to put up a poultry project that has been doing so well and has become an extra source of income to supplement my income from the casual jobs. My daily life became much better because I did not lack money for personal and household needs even during those periods that I was not able to get any jobs because I could sell some of the chickens or even the eggs to get money."
