Zawadi
received a $27 seventeenth payment.
"I joined the merry-go-round with the aim of increasing my savings to eventually purchase goats. These goats will multiply over time, and I plan to exchange some for dairy cows. My goal is to generate income by selling milk from the cows. With this income, I intend to buy land and construct rental houses for additional monthly earnings. In addition to saving through the merry-go-round, I currently sell Mandazi's and sweet potatoes. I am confident that the combined income from my business, savings, and selling some of the multiplied cows will help me realize my dreams."

Kahindi
received a $27 twenty-second payment.
"This year, my focus is to venture into goat rearing. It's a lucrative venture because goats require minimal maintenance and yield high profits. I plan to use my upcoming transfers to invest in this endeavor. Once I have accumulated many goats, I will be in a position to exchange them for a cow, which will help boost my herd. I am sincerely thankful for the assistance provided by this organization, as it has greatly contributed to my achievements. Their support has allowed me to pursue this new venture and improve my family's livelihood. I look forward to the future with optimism, knowing that I can continue to grow and succeed with their help."

Zawadi
received a $27 twenty-fifth payment.
"I successfully constructed a house for my sons as I had promised. In the upcoming year and beyond, my goal is to strive to build another single-room house for my daughters. It is very convenient for them to have their own space as they also require privacy. Apart from this, I have a project of buying goats. As a member of a merry-go-round group, I plan to save part of my transfers and then use them to invest in buying goats when my turn comes. Since goats multiply fast, I will sell some and add to my future savings, aiming to eventually buy a cow. Buying a cow at once is not easy due to its high cost, but through this strategy, I aim to acquire one. The remaining amount from my transfers, as I will be saving $1 per month, will be used to buy building materials gradually, enabling me to build a house for my daughters. I will be working to enable me to build my daughters' house."

Kadzo
received a $410 second payment.
"When I received my second transfer, I made it a priority to build a house for my children. They had been struggling to find shelter, and most nights, they had to stay in neighbouring households. My own house was too small to accommodate them all, so I felt helpless seeing them go through this trouble. I spent $300 on building materials such as iron sheets, poles, nails, and timber to construct the house. Finally, I have a sense of peace knowing that my children have a comfortable shelter to call their own. I feel grateful for the progress that I've made for my children. In addition to the house, I'm pleased to have invested in livestock, which are valuable assets for my family's future. I bought a heifer and two goats, spending $160. This adds to my existing livestock, as I already own two cows and six goats. I plan to breed them and sell the offspring in the future to support my children’s education, including high school and college fees. I spent the remaining amount from the transfer on paying school fees for my children and buying food for my family."

Shikari
received a $27 thirtieth payment.
"I used to work as a mason, but as I grew older, the work became too exhausting, so I had to stop. Now, I am focused on subsistence farming to support myself and my large family of 11. It has NOT been easy providing for them; there were times we could not afford to buy food or pay school fees for the children. However, since GiveDirectly began helping our village, our situation has greatly improved. I had bought a piece of land, approximately thirty acres, but had not finished paying for it. With the monthly transfers I receive, I have been able to pay off the debt and am now close to completing the payments. Additionally, I have used the transfers to acquire goats and cows, which I now raise. My main focus has been on acquiring livestock, especially goats. I used the entire $102 from the transfers I received to buy three goats, which I plan to rear and eventually sell at a profit. I am truly thankful for this opportunity to enhance my life, and I am optimistic about the future ahead."

Dama

"I have a dream to build a new house for my family by February next year. I am planning to buy two iron sheets monthly from my transfers which will allow us to to cut down on building expenses. My husband will buy the rest of the construction of material with his earnings as a house construction worker. I also would want to buy chicken on a monthly basis at $4 each month which I hope to resell to buy goats and in turn sell the goats to buy cows which will allow us to get us an income. The cash transfers have allowed us to dream of a better tomorrow."

Umazi
received a $27 twenty-second payment.
"My goal for this year is to buy a cow. I plan to use the monthly transfers to buy goats, and once they multiply, I will exchange them for a cow. Having a cow means I will have a steady supply of milk for personal use and for sale. If the cow has calves, I can sell them if a pressing need arises. I am truly happy with the positive changes in my life. The transfers have given me hope and a way to improve my family's situation. I look forward to achieving my goals and continuing to make life better for us."

Joyce
received a $27 twenty-first payment.
"With my recent transfers, I decided to prioritize saving for a significant investment. I allocated $68 to my personal savings account with the intention of purchasing a bull. However, when I visited the market last month, I couldn't find a bull but came across a dairy cow instead. I chose to save my money again while waiting to find the specific breed I desire. Currently, I own one bull and my goal is to acquire another so that I can use them for tilling my land and possibly renting them out for additional income. As a mother of six children, my main aspiration is to ensure their success and fulfill all their dreams. I spent $14 on their education to support their academic achievements. With the remaining $20 from my transfer, I decided to save it in my merry-go-round group. I joined this group in January 2024 with the aim of starting my own business and learning effective saving strategies. Currently, I am involved in buying and selling coconuts, and I am contemplating other business opportunities to ensure our family's success."

Hadija
received a $27 seventeenth payment.
"Currently, I do not have any business or employment and rely entirely on GiveDirectly transfers for support. I am focused on building my livelihood through livestock. I currently have six chickens, and I have hopes that by the end of the year, they will multiply significantly. My plan is to exchange the chickens for goats once they increase in number. Additionally, I already own three goats, and as they multiply, I intend to exchange them for cows. Ultimately, my goal is to acquire two cows and an ox. I will care for them, allowing them to grow and develop, and eventually sell them at a profit that will cover my college fees. My aspiration is to enroll at KMTC to further my studies, which I believe will pave the way for a brighter future."
